the pain is seriously not the issue, its nothing at all just as DamoEL said you will be shocked that all you were worried about was that its like **** is that it ahaha

emm as i said in an earlier post my mate who was waiting outside looked lik she was about to puke in worry over me in their about to be "butchered" and then she seen me walk out with a huge smile on my face ......well she just couldnt believe it

but as far as i know there is a numbing cream availible but myself i wouldnt bother with it as:

    1) it means your going to have to sit there longer on the table with your jeans round your ankles

    2) as we all know when your going to get a piercing but especially one below your belt your going to be sitting their with your heart thumping and kinda ****ting yourself, so that is going to last longer while you wait for the numbing cream / iquid to take effect

so if ya wanna get it done be my guest but the guy who doesnt will prob be finished and all by the time tour piercing is about to be preformed

i might just suck it up and go get it done!

there's no place in Waterford that actually does genetal piercing.

any place in waterford has reccomended bodyworks in dublin?

i really don't want to have to go to dublin to get it done tho!

can anyone reccomend someone in the munster reigon to do it!

I am considering this also. I am going on holidays next week so i will wait until i come back from hols. Where is the most experienced in doing this. Is this mainly a gay thing to do. I have a gay friend who i asked about this was shocked that i was thinking of this as i am not gay. Is this true or false. I thought it would benifit straight people more than gay.

I am interested in feedback on this.

I'm afraid so, generally, as soon as people get piercings "down there", they'll start listening to show tunes and develop a subtle lisp, and the muscles in the wrists will weaken. The same things happen when a man gets his right ear pierced.

*Disclaimer: Disregard the above, as it is a blatant lie

hahahah funniest thing i have heard in the past while

emm no not at all, emm yes people who happen to be gay have them as well as straight people. just so happens that like whith ear rings gay people have them.....why i dont know ( hmmm maybe cause they also have ears and a dick)

look honestly it basically comes down to the same awl thing of ohhhh thats the gay ear and all that crap

put it this way when / if your friends hear u have it done ( if you get it done that is) id be lik " yea so what i have my knob pierced" if they say anything lik oh u gaybo yadda yadda yadda say " well lets see you have the balls to get it done then"

being honest out of my personal my friends were lik " you sick **** but fair play to ya, wudnt be able to do that myself"

and ALWAYS REMEMBER your getting a piercing for YOURSELF and NOT FOR your friends or not because of their opinions

I am not afraid of being labled. If i was i wouldnt be seen out with my gay friend (i have been called gay just cause i go drinking with him). I dont have a problem with it. Its just that i was surprised to hear him say this. I didnt think it had much merrit but sometimes i get the impression that some gay people think they have exclusive rights to be adventurous about their sexuality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭LD 50

I wouldn't say it's a very gay piercing to get. Snakebite would do about 2 or 3 a week, so I doubt they were all gay guys getting it done.
The people that go around calling people names like that are generally the ones more insecure about their own sexuality, and should be ignored.

If you want to get it done, do it. If you don't want to tell anyone, don't. Not like they're going to see it unless you whip it out!

If you're getting a prince albert piercing, then the pain is shocking in that you'll be amazed that that split-second pinch pain was what you were so worried about.

Seriously, it's like getting pinched for a fraction of a second, and then it feels fine again.

OK got it done yesterday. And it did hurt. The pain only lasted about 3 seconds but id did hurt allot for them seconds enough for me to give a shout out (really doesn't happen that often). Maybe the fact i don't have any other piercing to compare with makes it relative. Also i didn't much like the part where they stick something up your japs eye. This was nearly as bad. I do find there is no pain at all afterwards. you barely feel it in place. However that said it wasn't all that bad. And yes i think it was worth the pain. I have a couple of tattoos and think the pain of them (even though it is milder) is worse because it goes on for much longer.

I am bleeding quite a bit but not as much as the OP. The cleaning is a bit messy and i find sitting on the toilet to be helpful for this.I am using the salt water as recommended but i am also putting a tiny drop of TCP in just to be sure. I'm sure it wont do any harm.

I certainly don't want to put people off this its just that i got the impression from reading the posts here it would be relatively pain free. IT IS NOT. It is more than a pinch but not by a huge amount. I cannot yet comment about the benefits during sex yet but i will comment when i find out. I think my Girlfriend is a bit put out by the suggested recovery time.

would just stick to salt water, urine will clean it also so tcp i'd leave out for the sake of healing

As Will said, better to leave the TCP out. You don't even need to use the salt water! When you are going to the toilet, simply sit down to go, and hold a cup of lukewarm water (NOT HOT!!!!!) in the bowl and basically dip yourself in the cup. Apply pressure midway up so that you can control the flow and slow it down, and this whole procedure will help clean and prevent you from experiencing pain while going to the toilet in the first stages of healing.

Ok Bleeding has stoped and there is no pain at all. No need for peeing in a cup as i dont have pain then either.

I am very pleased with the outcome. Girlfriend is eagerly anticipating trying it out ;)

I will hold off on the TCP now as the bleeding has stoped. The amount i used was tiny. Only put it in to ensure the salt water was sterile.

    Thanks for the replys

Well you can use it whenever you feel up to it (No pun intended) then you can, so long as you take it VERY easy, and use protection (I know it's your girlfriend, but you may bleed, so you really do need to).

Better to wait it out a little while at least!

Hi there topcatcbr and everbody else..

i was considering a PA last year..but it was the stretching and changing the bar in the following months, etc that freaked me out...how did people find that..

Not quite sure what you mean there...
Changing the ring/bcr is entirely optional, as is stretching it. You'll find that it actually self stretches to an extent, that if you want to increase the gauge of the piercing, when its ready the larger jewellery will slip in pretty effortlessly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,477 ✭✭✭topcatcbr

I have included the previous posts to give an easier reading for any would be PA candidates. I want to give a good chronological guide to show how it was for me so others can make an informed choice. I have read lots of advise from piercers on the Internet but have not read a complete guide from anyone who has documented the experience as it happened. Only accounts from those who had it done some time ago.

    1 Week later

I should have said previously that i got a 10 gauge bent barbell from the start. I chose this as i thought it would be more comfortable for the healing process as it is less likely to hit off things and move. I think i was right. I will probably try a round barbell once the healing has completed and try to move up to an 8 gauge at the same time.

Ok I have it in a week today and everything is going great. Apart from the initial piercing (as seen above)there was no pain involved at all for me. Initially there was a fair amount of blood, however there was little or no bleeding after the first 24hrs.
Took it for a test drive today (I couldn't hold out any longer). I used protection as suggested. There was a little discomfort to start with but this soon gave way. The only way I can describe the sensation is "more". It feels the same but now i am also stimulating the inside of the urethra also. It just feels like more sensation.

The girlfriend thought it was great. She was unsure about it at the start but once we got into it she loved it. She could clearly feel the 2 steel balls pressing against her insides. I think once i can dispense with having to use a condom things will feel even better. The piercing will have more freedom to move.

I hope this will be useful to someone and not too long winded. I am not the best writer in the world.

I'd say you'd feel quite a bit less ... discomfort with it, as the BCRs can twist around too, which can be uncomfortable at times, but actually means that the piercing tends to self-stretch too, which makes it much easier to change up a size. 10g (2.4mm) would be the standard size for getting the piercing done at. I'm at a 6g (4mm) BCR myself at the minute, and considering going up to 4g next (5mm), then maybe consider a 2g after that, see how it feels.

I'm not too sure about the curved barbells myself for this piercing TBH, as I find that sometimes the ball on the BCR can disappear, having slipped inside the urethra, so I'm not completely sold on the idea, but might try it at some stage.

I sizes up today. I thought i was pierced with a 10 gauge but it turned out to be an 8 gauge so i sized up to a 6gaugs. They didnt have any round barbells so i went for a bcr 19mm dia. It hurt a little but nothing too bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Seriously? Little early to be sizing it up! If you leave it, it stretches itself, and then the larger jewellery just slips right in!

If any of you gents want to treat your loved one, I have an unused, 18kt gold BCR for sale. Off hand I think its a 2g and around 22mm diameter, but if anyones interested I can post the exact measurements.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Dunno if I'd want gold there TBH. Had titanium for the first two rings, the one I have now is surgical steel, and I want to go back to titanium for the next one (which I think will be soon)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,183 ✭✭✭✭Will

High quality gold is very inert material so won't react with ya, it's just the lower quality stuff. 24kt gold would be too soft and malleable, 18kt is usually standard afaik

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Ah I know, I just don't like the idea though, thinking of getting myself a nice coloured titanium one though. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 315 ✭✭Pierced Off

Wills, done his homework. 9kt is a no no for piercings, yes it can be used on healed but better to stay clear. 24 is too soft to make decent BCR's with. 18kt is the lowest recommended for new piercings and best for making decent jewellery from. Coloured titanium is cool, Damo, but imagine the kudos of having a €350 ring hanging from your best mate!

You are probably right but i wanted to change the ring type and when i was in the shop the ring sliped in very easy so it was suggested i try the next size.

Its done now and all is well.

Steve in Snakebite is a legend!! It was fine, totally bricking it beforehand, but it wasn't one tenth as bad as expected. Talked it through beforehand, felt at ease, and then BAM, done. It was a very tentative walk to the bus home though, waiting for someone to bump into me or set their dog on me or something. And I've just had my first pee with it in, which was lots of fun... IE fairly sore...

All in all though, it was the second easiest piercing I've gotten, next to a standard ear piercing, if you ignore the nudity/ fella holding 'your fella' part of it.

It's a very easy piercing to get done (other than the mental block) and to heal up, just make sure to do exactly what they say for the aftercare.

something like this has been in the back of my mind for a while and im still nowhere near making a decision but

i never thought a prince albert was for me but thought some of the other behind the helmet piercings might be

i saw a picture recently of one just behind the head that didnt look like it went threw the urethra but just above kinda threw the top thirdif you know what i mean

anyone any idea what that would be called or have any pictures or no were i could even start looking?

thats about as non graphic a description i can do im afraid

If you're getting a prince albert piercing, then the pain is shocking in that you'll be amazed that that split-second pinch pain was what you were so worried about.

Seriously, it's like getting pinched for a fraction of a second, and then it feels fine again.

kinda like a nipple piercing? i had my nipple done and while it was sore it was very very bearable and very very quick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 315 ✭✭Pierced Off

The piercing you're talking about is an Ampallang. It can be done either through the urethra, which usually heals quickest, or just below it. You can pierce above the urethra, but due to the high risk of migration it's not really recommended.
An Ampallang, by the way is not like getting your nipple pierced. Its sorer, one of the sorest male genital piercings along with the Apradavya (it passes vertically through the glans). It also bleeds, usually a lot, due to the size of the flesh you've gone through and the amount of blood vessels there.
If you're interested in getting it done, find a piercer and talk to them. They will tell you the pro's and cons and help you decide if it really is the right piercing for you.

ye iv seen pics of ampallang thats not what im talking about(it might be called the same thing but not by the pictures iv seen)

this piercing goes horizontally not vertically and is on the shaft not the glans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 315 ✭✭Pierced Off

The only piercing I have ever done on the shaft is a Frenum. These pass through the pliable skin covering the shaft. They are one of the easier and less painful genital piercings (cue sigh of relief) and heal, providing you're careful, very well.

And very bloody rare. Personally I've never met a piercer who'll do it. Way too many potential problems.
