Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You'd have thought it wise for Benitiez to have an old
hand in the backroom who he could talk fluently with (assuming he could understand Scouse Spanish that is!).

    Mike.

I thought the rumour was he was to be made assitant same way Thompson was there to guide Houllier.

This might be a good thing for Liverpool.

I think the demise of Liverpool since the late 80's has a lot to do with the sticking to the traditional values they hold so dear.

They have always retained a so called "boot-room boy" or two on the backroom staff.

Since Dalglish left, the managers have been:

    a) Souness - a throw back to the "good old days"
    b) Evans - Same
    c) Houllier/Evans - They should have let Houllier have sole control at the time ( you may not agree now, but at the time they should have let Evans go and gave Houllier the job outright.)
    d) Houllier, with Phil Thompson as assistant - Another throw back to the "good old days".

In my opinion Liverpool as a club are guilty of living on past glories, as they keep on retaining a link to those days.

Maybe Benitez realises this, and the need to start again from absolute scratch.

Liverpool seem to be doing this the right thing. They're letting Benitez set things up the way he wants. I think the clearout is the right thing to do as they need to instill a new mentallity and style of play. If they sit back and give him the time and financial backing like they always do then hopefully (for 'pool supporters sake) they'll start playing some good football.

Id rather not see liverpool becoming a "european" club though. After all it is right smack bang in the middle of england. Im not a big fan of kicking out all the english staff and haveing one full of foreigners.
