cdrw wont show up on PC

    my uncle bought a Philips Cdrw today brandnew so he asked me to install it so just did the usual swop around stuff with ide cables etc...but it just wont show up on his Pc or in Bios...now his PC is old its a 333mhz celeron with a 15 gigHd with windows XP pro on it...so anyone any ideas....now it said on box of cdrw that u need a minimum of 500mhz would this be the problem?...or is it the firmware of the Philips cdrw?..

    Make sure the cable isint loose where it connects to the motherboard.

    The CDRW drive should be connected to the end of the cable, and make sure the jumper is set to "master" ........ also in the BIOS try changing the secondary device thing to "auto" if the BIOS doesent see it firstly.

    yeah tried all that and put back in old cdrom and it picked it up no problems,maybe it might be the MB?...too old?..
