Traffic monitor?

    Hi,
I got broadband this afternoon. I'd like a local traffic monitor, one that doesn't hog the system resources and sits quietly in the system tray. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Cheers

Cheers mate, I have a bit of a problem though.
I tried both and in the end preferred DU Meter, I used it for a while but then I noticed it logs all my LAN transfers as well and there doesn't seem to be a way of distinguishing between the LAN and ADSL. Only dialup and ADSL.

I switched back to Net Limiter, but that oeNeo chap says I won't be able to use DC++ with it running.

    Is there a happy medium?

Wow, I found something perfect. I just decided to post here in case anyone was interested.

    Bandwidth Monitor Pro

It does everything I want, it'll even e-mail me when I reach the 8gb mark!

In Du meter you can select all the traffic from your adsl modem/router.
Inside du meter options under the general tab, look towards the end at "network interface to monitor" and select your adsl modem/router.

I have been using du meter for years its a great little porgram.

Damn , i just found this in my downloads folder.I have never used it but it sounds like what you might be looking for if du meter does'nt work out ..

BWMeter is a powerful bandwidth meter and monitor, which measures
and displays all traffic on your network. Unlike other products, it
can analyze the data packets (where they come from, where they go,
which port and protocol they use). This makes it possible to
distinguish between local and internet traffic for example. BWMeter
can create statistics for all computers in your network, measuring
and displaying all internal network traffic as well as download and
upload from the internet. You can even define filters which show
your transfer with certain internet addresses (e.g. to see how much
data you download from your favorite news server). BWMeter is
ideal for home users to get an overview of how much bandwidth they
use, as well as small to large businesses, where one computer can
maintain the statistics of downloaded / uploaded data of all
    computers in the network.

BWMeter gets both thumbs up here. Much better than DUmeter.

and i have to say oeNeo is wrong. Netlimiter works perfectly with DC++, there is no reason whatsoever why it won't work, and i can verify that it does work for me.

They probably kick you because you limit to 1kb/sec upload... They can't kick you for using it, as there is no way they can tell you have it activated or not... except if you limit really low.

I have never gotten kicked from anywhere using it. Then again, i do have 512 upload, so even if i limit to 15kb/sec its still enough that i don't get unwanted attention, and it leaves my pings nrealy completely unaffected.

I don't even have this installed, but since I had downloaded it before, I put it in my 'Apps' folder. When on DC, some incoherent idiot (who happened to be an op) messaged me and mentioned the filename. I couldn't understand him, then he kicked me. I asked him what the problem was, and he said I wasn't allowed to share it (whether or not I had it installed).
