Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,
I've found myself in a situation where i'm gonna have to take a couple of weeks holidays from work soon. None of my mates can head abroad over the next month or so for various reasons (work, wedding etc). I don't want to spend 2 weeks at home doing nothing so i'm looking for advice on somewhere abroad to go on my own and have some fun! Anyone done this before and can give me advice?

I travelled down the coast of Croatia last year. Pula - Split - Dubrovnik. I really enjoyed it and met loads of people. The hostels were full in Split and Dubrovnik but accomodation wasn't hard to find and it was pretty reasonable. Doing something like this might be a bit awkward with flights from Ireland though. Ryanair fly to Trieste from London which is quite near Pula. Aer Lingus fly from Dubrovnik but I'm not sure what it's like for single flights.

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you have a good budget, I suggest Bali!

China or India if your looking for a challenge.

China is tough but relativly pricy (half of what euope would cost ya)

If you speak some Spanish try Mexico. Once they know you're not American, locals are extremely outgoing and friendly.

Not sure I'd do Bali/Asia on my own.

Any hostel I've ever stayed in (in Ireland and France) have been grand. Usually, you can get a locker for any valuables and obviously, always keep your wallet with you. In many, you can ask for a single sex dorm but I don't think it's necessary - most travellers tend to be young backpackers rather than drug dealing pimps!

You could google the names of the hostels you're thinking of booking - there are lots of sites that do hostel reviews.
