    UK import? 5 grand?

Umm, sorry but you can pick a very tidy one of those up in the UK for under two grand sterling.

Best of luck flogging it for that much.

Ok sounds like a good deal, 2 grand sterling, plus flight, + transport to various dealerships, couple of nights b+ b,+ ferry back plus vrt, plus Irish plates.+ a few bob for the loss of earnings while doing that.

Lets call it 5000 euro and its a deal.

The Autotrader has loads of them from £700 upwards. 2.0 924s are only 'classic' in the sense that they are old. A 924 turbo might come close to being worth €5000, but a bog-standard 2.0 isn't. BTW you didn't mention the mileage. How high is it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,682 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Dude, it's worth a little over €3k, depending on the quality of the respray. Sorry dude. It barely deserves the Porsche name and that alone will not sell this vehicle. The 'costs' you list below, vrt aside, add up to a few hundred, nothing more.

Lads if your interested I'll go check milage.(Not that I'd trust milage on a23 year old car)..... if your just bored and want to talk cars you'll have to buy me a few drinks and I'll waffle for Ireland.

P.S. If you are genuinely interested in 924's...turbos and great to drive...pain to work on though.

Actually, good point... hadn't thought of that.. I must go check it's m.o.t's... have fsh, so in theory all should be correct.

    Cheers

You don't seem to be too familar with your car, for an enthusiast. If you want to sell the car you'd need to be a bit more definite about the details, you can't be vague. You'll just put buyers right off. Especially for an unusual car when other owners will have a folder full of garage reciepts and even photos of work done to the car.

And who mentioned I was an enhusiast??

Folder(s)... of receipts, m.o.t.s etc. Plenty of pictures. If your interested in BUYING it, if it's waffle time then point me to the seats while you go to the bar, I'll have what ever your havin, and get us some crisps too. :-)

Who else would bother with a 20+ yr old car?
Its a motor forum, not the for sale forum. Why post it here unless to waffle?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 627 ✭✭✭mcguiver

Point taken....It is a motoring forum so waffle is acceptable.

That doesnt mean that I dont want the crisps though.

I know your about to make an offer.

Just think of the good points:

1.It would be easy to find in any carpark.
2.The back seats are too small, so no more lifts or back seat drivers.
3.Removable roof panel saves having to buy a hairdryer.
4.You can start conversations with "when I got my first Porsche".
5.People will walk up to it, read 924 written on the back and then say"thats a 924,
isnt it?".... actually thats not a good point, but it is true.

I'm not I was just giving you some info that might help you to make a sale. At the moment I think you are driving people away. You can buy a 87/88 944 for around 7/8k, personally I'd prefer that over a 924.

Your right... much nicer modern motors, great to drive. Plus you get power steering.

Unfortunately the engines are bigger and you have to pay the full whack on insurance... Engines are tougher to work on, spares expensive.

I got the older one so I could insure it for 500 euro. Repair it cheap and not need any specialist tools etc. It does what it says on the tin.....if it sells it sells, if not it will still be a nice toy for the weekends. I'll be happy if I can get what it's cost me between buying it and importing parts...any labour I've done is free, cos I enjoyed the project, time for my next one.

If anyone wants to swap for an old landrover I'm tempted to get one.

Good points. You should put that on your ad.

    wtf?
get rid of a porsche in favour of a landrover?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 627 ✭✭✭mcguiver

I know, but I havent played with a landrover in ages!!

Plus it's probably a more practical toy for me cos I canoe, rockclimb etc. And you dont have to keep them clean all the time!

Must not buy more toys, must not buy more toys, must not buy more toys.
