I thought Biscan might be a useful player to have down as a defender, and seeing that Benitez said: "Igor Biscan did well in the first half playing central midfield which is his position. That is a good position for him and I want to see more of him playing there."

But hard to know if he will get his game.

Signed up with the Wyverns, who with any luck will do even worse than last year's abysmal The Great Escape.

Seriously though, I'm hoping Forsell and Angel can continue from where they left off last year, and that the money saved purchasing them that I've spent in midfield and defence pays off.

Also hoping V. Nistlerooy and Henry have shockers, though that is really hoping against hope.

Went for a strong XI with bargain-bin subs. Playing a 4-3-3 with C Ronaldo, Wright Phillips and Holland in midfield, and Henry, Kezman and Yakubu up front. Should get goals, if nothing else!

Nah, think we just went for what, appeared to be, the best options available to us.

Shouldn't really be telling you this, as you are the competition , but Ronaldo is playing in the Olympics so he won't be playing for a few weeks!

I know, but he'll only be missing a handful of PL matches and I don't want to be mucking about with transfers and whatnot. Besides, if a player is out injured or banned or whatever, it's usually reflected in the player's price, right?

Yeah but you won't be getting any points for him for the few weeks he's not playing, but hey, I'm not gonna tell you how to pick your team!!

Player's price is solely dependant on how many people pick them for their team. So obviously if a player is playing badly or not getting their game a lot of people would drop them from their team thus reducing their value and the reverse can be said if a player is doing well.

Defenders: Southgate, Bridge and Hypia
Midfield:Okocha , Pires, Hitzelsperger, Holland and Butt
Forward: Hasselbank and Van Listereen

All my subs are crappy

I'd personally go for a better keeper myself.
For the same money you could get Kiely, Martyn or Friedel.
or for 0.5 you could get Van der Sar or Taylor.

There are much better players (points wise) than all of your midfiled except Pires of course.

I'd say you were taking a big chance in choosing Hasselbank as he's with a new team this year. Although I could be proven wrong.

Your defence is top notch but looking at who you've gone with I reckon you made the same mistake I made last year when choosing my team.
By the looks of it I'd say that you picked a very good GK to start with, then an A-list defence, then started to pick your MD realising that you didn't have much money left so you had to go back change your GK and some players in defence to enable you to pick a full squad??

From playing it last year I've found that your midfield is the most important part of your team, I normally play with five midfielders.
Defense is not that important, 2 good Defenders should suffice.
Make sure that you have 2 on-form Forwards in your team and maybe a cheaper third player to make up the numbers.

Another important thing to look out for is how many games a team plays in a gameweek. By that I mean, some weeks a team won't play due to other commitments like court cases, photoshoots, etc. so therefore a few weeks down the line a team has to play a game on a Wednesday and a Saturday and in that scenario any players that you have form said team will give you points for 2 games. (I'll probably have all the seasoned players here on Boards complaining that I'm giving away the secrets!! )

Anyway, that's enough for now!!

Yeah apologies for the slightly unhelpful advice earlier Alany !
Anyhoo, your most important player is your captain. Last year i swapped my captaincy between Van Nistelrooy, Shearer, Henry and Lampard. If a team is playing twice in the one week then change your captain to a player that is going to play twice, usually you will pile up the points if they do well in those games. Of course if they get sent off or concede 10 goals it will backfire. It can be a bit hit and miss changing your captain during the season. I will probably keep Henry as my captain for most of the season, changing the odd time if he's injured/not playing etc. Be economical with your transfers too. I am a transfer monkey, and wasted a lot of points last season, but still did quite well. You get one free transfer a week, then you lose 4 pts for each extra transfer you decide to make. Good luck anyway, you'll need it.

Def: Upson (B'ham), Hyypia (L'pool), Toure (Ars)
Mid: Lampard (Che), Izzet (B'ham), Zenden (M'boro), McVeigh (Nor)
For: Henry (Ars), Cisse (L'pool), Defoe (Tot)

Subs: A bag of feckin eejits !
