€ircom customer service slagged off in the Irish Times

From Miriam Donohoe's column in the Irish Times to-day which is titled 'Time to say no to being ripped off' :-
We had our own experience at home recently with Eircom. We opted to avail of a special BB offer to upgrade our internet access but discovered at the beginining of May that our telephone bill included charges that were not part of the agreed BB package.

We rang customer service and a woman undertook to investigate the matter. A couple of weeks passed without any response.

We eventually lodged complaints about inaction with customer services and the "Feet on The Street" department whose saleswoman had convinced us on the doorstep of buying the BB deal in the first place.

After a lot of time, effort and frustration pursuing the complaint, we eventually got the €200 or so we were due.

Aside from the fact that this is a common story on these boards, it might provide a good opportunity for a letter from the new IOFFL committee to the Times backing up the story and perhaps highlighting a few more serious examples of €ircom's lack of customer service and the futility of contacting Comreg for help.

    Just an idea ?

    M.

I'd also be happy to give one or two first-hand examples of what eircom.net sales (yes, technically different company, btu same attitude) will do when you ring them.
