I got IOL broadband, a few days ago and want to know if the download cap applies for a month from when you first log on or is it from the 1st day of every month (in which case i've only got 9 days left to use about 7GBs!)

its from the start of the month until the end, and btw its a limit not a target ;)

enforcing the cap makes it a target. "Well I'm paying for xGB I'll bloody well get my money's worth."

If it wasn't there, the majority of folks wouldn't get near the levels of the caps I'd say. I would rather "excessive use" clauses fairly applied than fixed caps. It would make the likes of UTVi more attractive too with their generally more customer oriented approach (even how they are enforcing caps is good).

The majority of folks don't get near the level of the caps even when they are enforced.

i only have a 4gb cap and just went over it for this month.

any idea if eircom are charging yet? heard somewhere that they arent charging til next month. in the T&Cs on their site it says that they 'may' charge for extra downloads....seems like a deterant more than a strict limit......

hoping its not too expensive a sub if i do get charged
