I'm wondering. I could be way off base, but, my sense is that more and more, it is the case the programmer type people are shying away from what are called 'hard' languages, or non-memory managed languages, and then increasingly Colleges/Unis are putting out people who have scant knowledge/or little interest in the same.…

It is pretty obvious that every programmer needs to know Java to be a programmer. Otherwise u just wouldnt be a programmer.
