    Try.....

    Run full system scan.
Take note of the filename(s) detected.
    Reboot to safe mode.
    Find and delete the file(s).

    Open regedit.
    Navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Delete any references to the file(s).

    Do the same for:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

If it was a .dll, open a command prompt and run
    regsvr32 /u "dllName"

    Rinse, and repeat.

What OS are you running ?

Restart the computer in Safe Mode if 2k or Xp and run your AV from there.

    I have winxp home 2002

I finally got rid of this bloody trojan virus, i had to open up system volume and delete a file in RP40, called 002479.exe, thats the file it moved to when i deleted the other infected file winupd.exe.

nasty little bugger, keystroke logger thingymajig, anyhoo its gone now, very bad if you get it as anti-virus detects but doesnt clean it off even in safe mode as i tried doing it from there

No cleaning tool for it either

    Hi there
Tried to run AVG in safe mode wouldn't run..
But the advise above is good : when detected take note of the path reported by your AV then, reboot in safemode (repeatedly press F8 key) & delete the blasted thing also empty the recycle bin in safe mode then reboot.. :)
