Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I hate Bush, but who doesn't have a history?

  • Registered Users Posts: 547 ✭✭✭Devious

    Yes, but unfortunately most of the history listed above is of events which have taken place since bush became President. We're not talking about some petty crimes committed as a teenager, this guy is supposed to be the leader of the free world and has behaved like dangerous, incompetent bufoon.

    And the sad thing is any educated person knew he was a chancer before he was elected President.
    To make matters worse he may be re elected.
    That is a damning indightment of American people.

    Aye, well put.
    It's scary not in that perspective but if a "dangerous, incompetent bufoon" can get into office then surely a dangerous, competent genius (evil) can make it in.:rolleyes:

    And if he's not successful in the presidential election, with that CV there's certainly a job for him in the Irish cabinet or banking system.:D

    Well we all know he wasn't really elected, proving he can't count. As to the rest of his education, the guy probably couldn't even spell CV, let alone WMD! :)

    His CV is going to the voters of the USA in November. Their call. Let's not inerfere in their internal affairs....have to be consistent now.

    It's emails like this that annoy me because they undermine the argument. While its intention is sound IMO, the tone and form of the writing makes it look like nothing more than a rehearsed diatribe, which allows those who support Bush to brush it off as "lefty propaganda".

    I'm only going to take a couple of thing to demonstrate what I mean....

    By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.
    Well, in itself, not such a bad thing. Who of us wouldn't take the opportunity to fly around in planes to their heart's content, if it meant not being shipped off to war. At the time, I'd say it's not a big issue - Vietnam was a disaster anyway, but now it highlights his hypocrasy when he asks young men to go to war for similarly suspect reasons.
    With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.
    This is where vagueness becomes the enemy of the intended message. His loss in actual votes was more like 500, not 500,000. Now whether a loss is by 1 vote or 1 million votes is irrelevant, it's still a loss, that's democracy. But 500,000 is overinflating figures. However, the figure of illegally disqualified voters and votes may be close to 500,000, but because they didn't vote, they don't count as "lost by 500,000 votes".
    I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.
    Fluff. What has that got to do with his Presidency? You can argue that the increase in his prices is his fault, but to say that price increases while someone is in office is like saying "Bertie Ahern was in office while Ireland saw its highest ever petrol prices." What has it got to do with him?
    I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S."prisoners of war" detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.
    Legal loopholes really. We accept that Guan. Bay is a bit of a void, and so detainees don't fall under the POW status. So in that respect, refusing inspectors isn't breaking the Geneva Convention.

    Overall, it's inconsistent, and ram-it-down-your-throat propaganda. For the most part, those who want to read it already know these things, and those who don't want to read it, won't.

    I do agree that arguments that go to the extreme on either side don't do any good but regardless of what happened in Florida, 500,000 more americans voted for Gore than Bush. I believe the offical national tally was
    Bush :: 50,456,002
    Gore :: 50,999,897

    Because of how the electoral vote is structured Bush did win but he did not get the most votes.

    "Terrorism". They're terrorists, allegedly, not POWs. That's how they get away with it.

    I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein to justice.

    Well Sadam hasnt been convicted yet but hes in a jail cell.

    Lets face it hes closer to justice than slobadon milosivitch(sorry about the spelling).

    That CV seems a bit out of date as I think job figures are on the rise in the US at the minute.
    O And its been posted in a million times before.
