Vodafone must have released this as on their website they have a lot of new phones (4 i think) nokia 6600 being one of them.

    http://www.vodafone.ie/phonestariffs/ourphones/paymonthly/index.jsp

Hopefully now it wont be long before they release the nokia 6230 as I really want this phone. What is the best way to get an upgrade out of them when you are not due one?

This still has not gone fully live with Vodafone.

New release date is suppose to be monday but i wouldn't hold my breath on this as wap 2.0 has had more release dates with Vodafone than thier are wap 2.0 phones :)

As for the 6230 it is promised in the first half of August that is if all goes well with Wap 2.0

Its not as simple as that.. I know for a fact they had everything up and running for WAP 2.0 but have since suffered a set back.. I am guessing they launched the handsets on the basis that the set back was a short term thing.

I was talking to Vodafone yesterday and they told me that WAP 2.0 would not be working until at least August and possibly September or later.

The Settigs Wizard on Nokia.com have the 6600 listed as supported phone for MMS on Vodafone.

I can't get settings to work, must ring and ask for explanation :dunno:

The Settigs Wizard on Nokia.com have the 6600 listed as supported phone for MMS on Vodafone.

The settings for the handsets have been available for a while but they won't work until the network also supports them which will happen when Wap 2.0 launches.

This info is not correct. Over tonight the work is being done to launch Wap 2.0 hopefully in the morning.
As i said before due to varying reasons Wap 2.0 has had a number of false dawns but the offical line is that it will be live in the morning.

    Fingers crossed :)

I was told just there that it was supposed to go live last night but didn't. The guy reckoned it would be up and running by the end of the week.

In the meantime, he's texting me the settings, so I'll post them here when (if) they arrive.

What is the best way to get an upgrade out of them when you are not due one?

about 2-3 weeks ago i rang up vodafone to ask did i qualify for an upgrade. i currently have a sharp gx10i with an average monthly bill of 32-euro, give or take 1 or 2 euros. i have that phone just over a year. they said no that i would have to spend at least 60-euro per month for the next 3-4 months before they would consider me.

anyhow, every weekday for the last 2-3 i have logged onto the vodafone.ie website (to send txts etc) and each time i click the upgrade link just to see if i was eligible, that and i was bored.

guess what - yesterday vodafone approved me for an upgrade. now, my conspiracy theory is that they have monitoring s/w which see and track who the guys are who are desperate for an upgrade. alternatively, i could have just got lucky!!

    hope u get ur upgrade!!

Well I don't know if they monitor it or not, but strangely enough that also happened to me last December when an upgrade appeared on my account a little early. I'd suggest you use it within the next few weeks as they can expire.

Vodafone have been offering me an upgrade and then taking the offer away for the past eight months or so. This continued well after my contract had expired. It was usually reinstated when I complained and said I was waiting to buy the 6600 from them. After much discussion they agreed to leave the current one on my account until September.

The first time it happened it took a screenshot of the upgrade page on My Vodafone to get them to give it back, as they argued that they had no record that it had been given to me in the first place. I had taken this when my customer spend discount vanished, as I was worried that the upgrade would too-and it did.

This phone is wap 2.0 and the Vodafone network still does not support this. As you will know it was suppose to go live today but this didn't happen. Still some issues surrounding it that prevented it going live but these are minor and it is expected very shortly.

I included the settings for the 6820 but once it goes live i will fire up whatever one anyone needs.

Here's hoping they get it sorted soon. Looking at some neat Nokias (leaning towards 7610 now), but just no point if GPRS doesn't work on them :)

hi, it should work for E-mail, (lack of) MMS and WAP capability is a separate issue requiring a WAP 2.0 Gateway that Vodafone haven't got up and running as yet... you should be using the GPRS ISP settings for the E-mail cient on the phone (available to contract customers) - if you get no joy from regular customer care (who can sometimes focus on WAP/MMS only) check with data support that your account is provisioned for the GPRS ISP access point isp.vodafone.ie on 18502870000

yeah that kit (must have missed you mentioning it before ;)) makes use of the handset's browser alright (over WAP)...

although if the WAP 2.0 availability keeps being pushed out, you could try and fall back to the internal email client and GPRS ISP if you can access your mail server directly, to get you going in the mean time

The upgrade did go ahead last night but I didn't post anything at the time as there was no guarantee it would survive the day...

.... Data Call Type. Scroll to Analogue. Press Ok.

hi, any reason their CSD connection is being given as Analogue, rather than ISDN?

    Of nerdy interest only,

If you have a phone, cable/bluetooth, and a PC and are so inclined you can point your web browser at 10.24.59.100 (as a proxy server) and get web access from the wap apn.

WAP was the only thing being implemented at this point in time. MMS for WAP 2.0 is sheduled to go up within the week (fingers crossed :)).

I think it's wrong :) All the settings I have (and tested with) for CSD are ISDN.
