Has anyone got anywhere with MMS? I got a 6600 SAT and have not yet been able to get an MMS message or send out one. VoFo only checked my settings and sent me the 6600 setup list...

MMS WAP2.0 has still not gone live - it might do so tomorrow (as previously mentioned) but am not sure yet if this is going ahead or not.

If i wanted to set up an eircom.net email account on the 6600, do I just change the incoming and outgoing servers to mail1.eircom.net?

Can't get the voda site to work to change my old address from e-merge.

I have an upgrade with voda and im waiting for the 6230 aswell, Ive been told the end of august?

just an FYI, spotted this linked from The Feature, looks like there are currently supply issues with the 6230:
Nokia Unable to Keep Up With Demand for Popular Cellphone

A Nokia spokesman said Wednesday the company hasn't been able to secure components quickly enough to keep up with demand for the Nokia 6230 model, which has a built-in camera. "Demand has been significantly higher than we expected," he added. more...

I'm sure the supply problem will be fixed before the Vodafone network here is ready for it!

as a general reminder, if one hasn't got something helpful, good natured and on-topic to post - then please consider not posting...

also, potentially kicking off previously closed threads isn't helpful

Vodafone had delays launching WAP 2.0 (inc. MMS)... they seem to have got WAP working for some, but no one has posted back saying they have got MMS working yet... did you check the sticky:
Irish Operator Settings [Including WAP 2.0]

WAP2 MMS has not yet gone live so will not work. It will most likely be another week until this is done but that could easily change.

    Hi

I am sure ye lot will be pretty happy to hear this. MMS over WAP 2.0 seems to be working now on Vodafone. Sent and received a few MMS messages there in the last 10 minutes from my 7610. Good news for everyone I think.

    Thanks

On the phone to vodafone now. They are sending me settings for the 6230. They are saying they just got them today. Will let you know if it works.

    Data Bearer: GPRS
    Access Point Name: mms.vodafone.net
    User Name: vodafone
    Password: vodafone
    Authentication: Normal
    Homepage: http://www.vodafone.ie/mms
    Advanced/Other Settings:
    Proxy Server Address: 10.24.59.200
    Proxy Port: 80

Just got these from Vodafone. Note the username and password are changed from those posted on the boards previously.

I haven't been able to test them myself yet but will let you know as soon as I do.

err.. correction.. now she works from my nokia 6600.

should I now be expecting to pay thru the arse for data sent over GPRS? or will it be billed as a pic message?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

actually, if there are any other 6600 users out there that want to get mms working, I downloaded & installed http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,59231,00.html <- that from the nokia site. It's a connection wizard type thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Akula

last time i checked the settings from the nokia site were wrong, had the wrong username and password.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Bogger77

used the new user name / password and it's working fine, (at last)

    Anyone any ideas?

Seems to be working now, but it has reset my phone (6600) twice while sending. Is this a firmware bug? (The phone is November 03)

Works for me on my 6600 - what firmware are you using . Mine is ver 4. something.

Just wondering what the advantage of WAP2.0 MMS is over the regular MMS set up. My K700 is both WAP1.2.1 and WAP2.0 capable. Is there any advantage I would get from using the WAP2.0 settings as opposed to the 1.2.1 settings?
