Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Messenger programs stopped working on my machine since I installed some security software, and diodn;t start working again after I uninstalled it. I was wondering if maybe the security programs blocked certain ports that the messenger programs use. Does anyone know how to check this out?

Don't know. I got it free with a magazine, then uninstalled, then lost the cd. Was freeware.

this article says how to open ports, for XP firewall anyway, but also that they should only need to be opened for file transfer in MSN Messenger and doesn;t indicate you need to open any ports at all for Y! messenger. Perhaps because XP firewall doesn't block the ports they need in the first place

    http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/ports.mspx

Further googling reveals that MSN Messenger uses ports 80 and 1863.

Port 80 is stealthed and port 1863 is closed on my machine.

    aha.
