Roger Wilco to be bundled with Tribes

    Dynamix will start including the Roger Wilco Internet voice software with its multiplayer action games Starsiege and Starsiege Tribes. Roger Wilco uses a PC's sound card and a microphone to provide real-time audio chatter over the Internet, replacing the traditional typing that can be a hindrance in an action game.

    "Voice communication is essential for cooperative multiplayer games and Roger Wilco is setting the standard for the industry," said Jeff Hoff, a marketing exec for Dynamix." Roger Wilco is the voice communication tool of choice among players of Tribes and Starsiege. Bundling Roger Wilco with Tribes and Starsiege will make it easier for players to strategize, react to situations in real time, and interact on a more personal level."

    The software was created by a company called Resounding, and has been available as a beta download for some time now, and has proven quite popular with many gamers, with 130,000 downloads since its release last November.

    The licensing agreement between Resounding and Dynamix calls for Roger Wilco to be bundled in the Tribes Battle Chest, a bundle pack that will ship this fall. Included in the bundle pack will be both Starsiege games and the Roger Wilco software. It is expected Starsiege Tribes II will feature a similar capability when it ships.
