Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone have the answer to why the vodafone.ie website is and has been for as long as Ive been connecting to it, the slowwwwwest website on the internet.

Ok, you get the frontpage quick enough, but trying to check emails or send texts is a disaster.
I get slow times whether Im in the office on a 100mbps or at home on a 48kbps landline. Is it just me? Surely not.

At the moment I have a login page trying to get on for over 5 minutes. NOT HAPPYYY!!!!!!!

Might just be a temp thing :dunno:

It's been having a few issues today and yesterday, but over the last few months, the service is far better than it used to be.

The Vodafone website is the bane of my life. Its sooo slow and for some reason the email windows (which are horrible forced pop-up things anyway) won't work in Opera.

    I hate it

I rang them to give out hell as I was absolutely steaming yesterday. A very cold sounding service person came on and put me on hold 2-3 times while she checked with the web service guys who "dont take calls". Im not surprised theyed be on all day.

Anyway, she said everything was fine from their end. And why wouldnt it said I, theyre probably sitting beside the bloody web server. But then she said for them to test my account theyed need my username AND password. Over the phone! How unprofessional is that? I said I wasnt comfortable giving them my pw and I'll just have to suffer their crap service if asking for a users pw over the phone is the best fault finding method they have. I made her promise to tell the IT manager that I thought their web site was just about the worst website for response times Iver been on.
I could get on to a malaysian donkey porn site with quicker response times but thats neither here nor there. (fact)

based on the other guys comments here on slow times supposed to be fixed I'll monitor it over the next few weeks to see if theres any improvement.

The web team wouldn't take calls from customers because it's not in their job description. They'd be hired to do web development, not troubleshoot issues with customers.

Tbh it sounds like an issue on your end, as it's been running fine for me. Perhaps your machine or browser has issues with SSL, which is what you use to browse the whole time you're logged in.

As for your username & password over the phone, well it's a non-issue really. There's nothing they can do to your account in MyVodafone that they can't do from their own system, without your username and password.

I think he would prefer it to be sent over email ;)

I've experienced all the problems you're talking about but not for a couple of months to be honest. The webmail set up is still horrendous I'll agree.
It's a servlet/jsp web server so every time they restart the server every jsp page has to be recompiled (as they are viewed). So if you're the first one the use webtext after a restart for instance you're gonna be waiting.
I think they restart quite often so that could be the issue?

    50.6Kbs connection
I’ve hade no problems with it, for me it’s faster than o2. Although 2 days ago I couldn’t login to either.

Just out of curiosity has any one had any trouble with an oceanfree or IOL email account? (With mine it doesn’t let attachments through, even though there’s loads of space in the inbox)

Terrible problems with Vodafone Email & logging into MyVodafone.ie, It's slow all weekend and most of today as well. Not to mention that this service has been slow and unreliable for years.

The guys maintaining this service should be sacked

Everyone that uses this service knows it's crap, but it's difficult to move your email address when all your contacts have it.

Somone has also managed to get a hold of my password and hacked my account!

I feel the whole service has been compromised as there is also buckets of spam going thru it and coming from it!

It's a disgrace for Vodafone to be associated with this service.

Could more people please complain here and maybe something will be done?:(

Does anyone have the background on this and who the boss is?

Sites have problems, thats for sure, there have been a lot of changes to the Vodafone site to respond to customer issues lately and the service should already have improved considerably for customers. There was a hiccup over the weekend (some might call that an understatement) however things should be recovering.

Equally, webmail had problems back in May, but it has certainly behaved much better since.

Sorry to hear about the bulk of spam you are getting, unfortunately, due to the nature of email, if someone decides to add your email to the bulk spam lists then there is little any of us can do about it. That has nothing to do with Vodafone and can happen to any email account.

To reduce the bulk of spam, Vodafone (like thousands of other companies) participate in a number of RBL (realtime blacklist) checks to attempt to reduce the volume of spam out there, its not perfect but it does stop known sources of spam before it gets into the systems.

Before you go and decide that Vodafone are scanning your mail, they are not. The RBL checks the remote IP address of the SMTP server attempting to deliver mail, if they are on a blacklist then we reject it. If we end up rejecting 'legitimate' email then its up to that provider to remove themselves from that list, it wont be just Vodafone that bans them.

I would encourage feedback to Vodafone via customer care for an opt-in spam filter.

You of course can change your password at any time, choose a strong password (alpha numeric, upper case, lowercase, you name it) to put your mind at ease about someone gaining unauthorised access.

Apart from sacking, what else would you suggest?

Not really vodafone's problem, and the facility is there to reset your password and recover your account.

Again, not vodafone's problem. You can send an email that purports to be from any email address on the planet. If you don't believe me, I can send you an email from bill.gates@microsoft.com as proof (and I don't work for microsoft). Vodafone's email servers do not allow relaying of spam.

How about you go to another provider, take your number with you and when they ask why, tell them "because your website is ****". Complaining won't do a whole lot of good: The vodafone.ie website does not constitute part of your service agreement with vodafone, and as such vodafone has the right to bring it up or down as they wish without prior notice. While this may not be right, it's perfectly OK.

FWIW, the site was much worse about 4 years ago. Now it's generally OK, though sometimes late at night they disable login while they do work on it. The problems its been having today I haven't seen in at least 6 months.

I attempted to email some feedback when i logged into MyVodafone today but when i click on "Contact a customer service representative by email" i get an error "Mandatory fields are missing and your request could not be processed." on a pop up window. Why is this not suprising?

BTW, would you like to give us a heads up on what happened over the weekend? Accountability and integrity and all that? I hear other vodafone internal systems also went down? Were you guys hacked?

Doh! Im sure that 'these things happen' isnt much consolation. Hope to get that resolved soon.
Update> fixed now, really, honestly, we aren't out to get you.....

No big conspiracy or cover up over the weekend, just a software release.

if you must know, we've just launched a new service for prepaids to register for bonus topups, revamped webtext... you really want me to go on? :)
