Just posting this up for any who may be interested, i heard about it through a mate.

A texas hold em tourney on wednesday night, see poster below.

If anyone decides to go just ask for Alan Rohan on the door and say you came because you saw this poster on here.

Im not sure just where Tribeca is or what the story with alcohol is but if anyone has been there before maybe they could enlighten me.

I think its either part of or beside the Earl of Kildare hotel. Formerly known as Bar 47?

this is the most expensive week of poker ever. thank god I'm working on wednesday and friday nights or there's no way I would have been able to pass up this game and Samba's €40 freeze. then there's the big one on thursday, I'm going to a home game on saturday, and the €50 freeze on monday. at least with work I'm guaranteed to make money at the poker table.

Would love the practice - and twenty euro rebuys is just such good value. there's no guarantee that it won't be run by a pack of complete jokers though. "Joker?! You're supposed to take those out of the deck. What's this? Rules for draw and stud poker?!"

i was thinking that as well, in that case there is probably beer as well which is always an added bonus and something that i miss in the merrion and the fitz.

What the hell is a "buy back" for 20 ??

Is that like a Buy-in? How come its less then the initial cost?
Would people prefer guarunteeded cash prizes like this rather then the pool-split that we've run before?

Don't listen to that Pudding guy, he has a monster that he sometimes holds in his hand...

I'm not sure of the exact details of the tournament but I'm guessing that your dad wouldn't need to bring anything with him. Just turn up at the door, mention where he heard about the tournament and go and play.
There doesn't seem to be any phoning ahead to book a place but if he's still not sure then a call to the Tribeca bar mightn't go astray.

Mention to him about the Merrion €50 game too, very friendly game, not taken too seriously for new players, dancing girls*

*probably not true, but you never know...

Absolutely not. I think it is great. There are not enough female players. And no posters on the poker board (apart from Luke.) Luke was getting lonely. Why don’t you go with your dad and play?

Eh, that map points to Tribeca restaurant in Ranelagh, Dublin 6.
The poker game is at Tribeca (bar), Nassau Street, Dublin 2.

thats not the correct Tribeca i do believe, thats the restaurant down in Rathmines, this poker night is on in Tribeca on Nassau St.

i presume its basically the same but the chip allocation would be smaller.

i think, as lafortezza said, it seems to be a turn up and play, just ask for Alan Rohan on the door and that is the extent of my knowledge. The thing to bring really is your poker head and of course the entry fee.

Tribeca is the ground floor of the Earl of Kildare hotel. It's on the corner of Nassau St. and Kildare St. There definitely will be booze being sold on the night, as far as I know it's normal serving hours. Also, the night is being run by casino enterprises so no need to worry about a load of jokers. A lot of tickets have already been sold but because of people coming from all over there will be tickets sold on the door. Ask for either myself, Alan Rohan or Mark Staunton. One of us will be on or around the door for most of the night.

P.S. Lisa c, all your Dad has to bring is himself and his entry fee.

And a pair of mirrored Oakleys.

Rolo: what's the structure of the competition? will your buy-back get you the same amount of chips?
And who are Casino Enterprises? do they have a website you could link to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Rolo

Marq: Buy backs are restricted to two per person on the night. Each buy back will get you your original amount of chips back and you can only buy back in when you're out of chips. As for the website, it's casino-enterprises.com. They usually handle casino nights i.e. balck jack, roulette etc. for corporate nights out but they also handle poker classics like this one.
Hope to see you all there tomorrow.

What if 100 people turn up? Will the prize pool be increased? playing through 100 people for 15 times my max stake seems poor odds all told...

What are the rest of the prizes and how many get paid on the final table?

100 people is 9000 notes if they all spend the max. Even if they spend the minimum thats 5K....

Hi Rolo, can you tell me if there will be dealers at this event or do players deal themselves. Also do you know what kind of pay-out structure there is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Rolo

The players will be dealing themselves with one person overseeing the night. The plan is to pay out to the final three players. If we get big numbers then the prize pool will be increased. The minimum prize for the winner will be €1,500. What gets paid to 2nd and 3rd is completely dependant on the size of the prize pool.
Well folks work is now over, if you guys have any more questions I'll get back to you tomorrow but hopefully that covers everything.
