i think its the capacity to store the massive email that someone sends you that interests gmail users...although hotmail is going to a very usable 250mb this month...

any thoughts on how to get a gmai address? or how to know when they launch properly?

Gmail has some very nice features. Unlike Hotmail it's not owned by MS and you don't hae to put up with huge adverts every time you go to login.
