FRANZ FERDINAND have just confirmed that they will be coming to Ireland for three hugely-anticipated shows in Dublin and Belfast in October!

Since their magnificent sell-out show at The Ambassador in Dublin in April, Franz have been taking Europe, North America, Japan and Australia all by storm. The band managed fit in a number of European festival appearances during June and July that included Glastonbury, T in The Park, and a stunning Main Stage appearance at Oxegen.

Now they’re returning for three intimate dates, including what are set to be two very special shows at The Olympia.

Franz will play The Ulster Hall, Belfast on Monday, October 11th, and Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on Tuesday, October 12th and Wednesday, October 13th.

Following on from the success of ‘Darts of Pleasure’, ‘Take Me Out’, and ‘Matinée’, the new Franz Ferdinand single ‘Michael’ is out August 20th.

Taken from their current 1.2 million selling self-titled album, the single will include ‘Missing You’, ‘Love And Destroy’, ‘Don’t Start’ and a new version of ‘Tell Her Tonight’ (with Paul singing vocals in German!) across the formats. The video for the single was filmed in Berlin and features a cameo appearance by their friend Michael who inspired the song

‘Franz Ferdinand’ is currently No. 39 in the U.S. Billboard Album charts and just last week Franz scored two 2004 MTV Video Music Awards nominations for their massive ‘Take Me Out’. Franz have been nominated for the ‘MTV2 Award’ and in the ‘Breakthrough Video’ category.

‘Take Me Out’ is also up against Kanye West’s ‘Through The Wire’ in the Viewer’s Choice Awards. The winners will be announced at the Awards at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on August 29th.

Franz Ferdinand have also been nominated for this year’s coveted Mercury Music Prize; the winner of which will be announced on September 7th. The band were instantly a 3-1 favourite to win the prize.

In advance of their Belfast and Dublin dates, the band embark on their third North American tour of the year, kicking off at the Roseland Ballroom in New York on September 9th.

In addition, as reported on NME.com, Franz Ferdinand have announced that they would like to record their next album at home and have suggested the legendary Dan The Automator (Gorillaz, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) as a possible for producing the album. Having hooked up with him while they were touring the U.S., Alex ended up contributing a vocal track on the next Handsome Boy Modelling School album.

Don’t miss Franz Ferdinand live in Ireland for three special dates in October!
Special Guests are Franz’s acclaimed Domino label-mates, The Kills.
