RON SEXSMITH brings his brand new album, ‘Retriever’ - and a fantastic back catalogue of six studio albums - on the road in Ireland for his biggest ever Irish Tour kicking off in Derry on September 2nd.

Recorded in London during last years’ baking hot summer and featuring contributions from Ed Harcourt on keyboards and Travis’s Neil Primrose on drums, ‘Retriever’ is as fine a set of songs as you’ll hear all year; romantic, optimistic and filled with warmth, humility and humanity.

Ron’s previous album, ‘Cobblestone Runway’ (2002) saw him team up with Chris Martin on the stunning duet, ‘Gold In Them Hills’.

Following the collaboration, Coldplay invited Ron to join them as special guest on last summer’s tour of North America.

UNCUT: “The more robust ‘Retriever’ differs as subtly from 2002’s ‘Cobblestone Runway’ as the latter did to 2001’s country-tinged ‘Blue Boy’, but the central tenet remains the same: warmly uncluttered arrangements and the teasing out of emotional truths. In short, the dying art of songcraft, as much in the autumnal McCartney-isms of ‘Tomorrow In Her Eyes’ as in the white-soul of ‘Whatever It Takes’. A rare treasure indeed.’”

‘Not About To Lose’ from ‘Retriever’ is also the kick off track on a new compilation called ‘Modern Day Troubadours’. Released earlier this summer, it also features Johnny Cash, Neil Finn, Jay Farrar and Daniel Lanois, among others.

Born in 1964, Sexsmith was inspired by the likes of Paul McCartney, John Hiatt and Elvis Costello to take up singing and songwriting. Those very same titans of music are now lauding his singing and songwriting.

Don’t miss Ron Sexsmith with full band live in Ireland next month!
