Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Liverpool to launch overseas TV service

Liverpool supporters around the world will soon be tuning into a new
weekly three-hour television show that the club are producing for
    fans overseas.
The three-hour show - entitled 'LiverpoolFC TV' - will feature a
minimum of three hours of action and other features each week,
bringing Premiership and Champions League matches to the screen.

The package will include a roundup of the week's news, pre-match
build-up and analysis, and also feature:

Exclusive interviews with stars like Djibril Cisse, Harry Kewell,
    Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard

Classic matches from Liverpool's colourful and glorious history

Archive documentaries about the men who shaped Liverpool Football
    Club

TWI is currently distributing the show to interested broadcasters all
over the world - making sought-after games and up-to-date news
available for the first time in many countries.

Delayed full coverage and highlights of each UEFA Champions League
game, and all 38 Premier League match will be on offer to millions of
    Kopites worldwide.

Chief Executive Rick Parry told the club's official website: "We're
delighted to announce the launch of LiverpoolFC TV. I think it's
great news that fans from all over the world will be able to follow
the team in action every week and hopefully through the show, we'll
also be able to attract new fans to the club."

Michael Mellor, Senior International Vice President of TWI,
LiverpoolFC TV's distributor, believes there's never been a better
time for the club to launch an overseas mini-channel. He told
liverpoolfc.tv: "TWI is delighted to be working with Liverpool at a
time when the club is enjoying an ever increasing amount of global
    interest."

Unfortunately, due to the current Premiership television rights in
this country, a 'mini-channel' like LiverpoolFC TV cannot be
broadcast in this country. In order for a Premiership club to host
their own TV channel in the UK, over 40 hours of content must be
produced each week and still the channel can't show live first team
    matches.

Rick Parry explained: "Until the situation changes and we can show
live games, it doesn't actually make a great deal of sense. What's
important is that we continue to invest in the team rather than lose
    money running a TV channel."

LiverpoolFC TV kicks off on August 15.

If you're about to write a post asking why the club are not launching
a TV channel in the UK or Ireland, read Rick Parry's last sentence
    again.

'But Manchester United and Chelsea have got their own TV channels...'

    Both lose money.

'But Celtic and Rangers have got new TV channels...'

Both own the live rights to their own matches. Liverpool don't.

I agree with you that club TV channels are losing money and it would be a bad move for LFC to go down the road of starting up a channel but I'm pretty sure Celtic TV and Rangers TV do not own the rights to their Scottish Premier matches. As live broadcasts of weekend matches on Mondays. Just like MUTV and Chelsea TV.

Yeah, I think Celtic TV and Rangers TV are efforts from Setanta, who already own the SPL rights.

As far as i know, Ireland is no longer seen as part of the UK when it comes to football rights anymore, that is how RTE bought the rights to showing premiership matches on Saturday afterrnoons from this season.

I am aware of that and its a good thing as the idea behind no live games at 3pm on a Saturday is if there was a big game on say Liverpool Vs Everton ( I was going to say LFC Vs Man You LOL) nobody would go to a Lower Div game. Now that is a grand rule for the UK but I am not aware of to many Irish fans who go over to Lower Div games. So the EU said it was ok for RTE to show games at 3.But SKY still get to chery pick the big ones.

I am not sure why it will not be available here but the official Liverpool site say its for outside the UK & Ireland.Maybe Sky blocked it from going out here...

Think Sky hold the rights for another season or two and blocked the move.

Still I would think that LFC would be able to fill at least six hours a day with interviews, match previews and old classic matches from yester-year.

Question is, is there a large enough market currently to fund the tv output while waiting for the day when LFC hold the rights to live matches?

I'm sure that the SKY deal pays hansomely but the clubs would all benefit from owning the live rights.

I think there is a market for LFC overseas,LFC website is the world's most popular football club website with a whopping 25.718 million page impressions in July, more than seven million up on previous record! Also i think they are just starting out with 4 hours and will move it up from there.

actually clubs owning they're own tv rights bankrupted the Italian game .
In fact I couldnt think of a worse way to deal with tv rights .
