    Hi there,
The organisers of the recent tournies are getting together a list of all interested poker players from here and from beyond the confines of Boards.ie!

What we plan on doing is sending out a once-a-fortnight-or-so round up of the whole scene. Info on the next tournie, results from the last one, news from the poker world etc.

It will NOT repeat NOT be spam or be sold/given/lent to anyone. (If I wanted to do that sort of thing, I'd have done it already with Boards' 20K+ list).
Theres a lot going on at the moment behind the scenes and we want to keep everyone up to date.

Those of you who gave an email address at the 50-in game will be on it already but if anyone couldnt get there then you can sign up here or PM Mr Pudding

    DeV.

Welcome to the first suited Aces newsletter. Please forgive us if it is not everything you had hoped it would be. I hope things will improve as we practice. First things first, we have a website. The address is www.suitedaces.com it is not finished yet but we are working on it. Feel free to drop in and have a read. If you have any suggestions about the site please let us know.

Below is a quick outline of who we are, nicked from the website. It should give you a bit of an idea of who we are and what we are at. Read on.

Before we go any further I think a brief introduction is in order We are a bunch of young Irish guys who, for the most part, started playing hold ‘em at the beginning of 2004.

At that point we did not really know each other. We met through another website http://www.boards.ie. It wasn’t really love at first sight but we did quickly realise that we had a common interest, Poker. We also had a common goal, getting better at it.

So the next question, why the website? Well, quite simply, we love poker. In fact, we love it a lot and we felt we needed to share the love. As a group we are working together to try and improve our game. While we are doing it we thought we might as well share the trials and tribulations.

As I have mentioned we are all fairly new to the game. We are not professional players and we do not know everything there is to know about poker. We hope that by posting our experience and thoughts here we might help a few other like minded people get into the game. At the same time I think we will probably give the old timers a good laugh as they read about our bad beats and worse mistakes.

There are plenty of sites out there for and by the professionals but this site is for and by beginners who are trying to make it in the big boys world.

That’s it for now. I hope you enjoy the site. If you have any comments that you think might help us improve the site or can think of anything we should cover please let us know.

Like all good poker sites we are giving you the opportunity to play online. We have sorted out a deal with Gaming Club Poker. If you go to www.gamingclubpoker.com/suitedaces you will be able to download the software. Once you register you will be able to play. As you will see there is a special signup offer. It is explained on the site but here is a quick run down. First of all you need to lodge $20. Then, you need to play some cards. For every raked hand you play you will collect redemption points. These will not prevent you from going to hell for gambling but they will earn you some money. You can earn up to 3 point per hand depending on the stakes you play. For every 300 point you earn in your first 30 days Gaming Club will give you $20.

So far so good. We have added our own little twist to it. Every week we will receive a report from Gaming Club. This will tell us how many points everyone who signed up through the above link has earned. At the end of a set period we will give free entries to our offline tournaments for the players with the most points. We expect to give away one entry to the €50 game for the person with the highest points and an entry to the €25 game for the players in 2nd and 3rd. If there is a lot of interest we will probably be giving away more prizes but this will get us started.

    Here are the rules:

To enter the Suited Aces Challenge

    - You must go here www.gamingclubpoker.com/suitedaces and download and install the software.

    - You need to sign up between the now and the 31st August

    - You can re buy at any time

    - You will have 30 days from your registration to earn your points.

We will announce the winners on the site after the 30th September, this will give late sign ups an equal chance. We hope to run this little competition on an on-going basis.

One last thing. We have been made aware of a potential problem when signing up. Due to the fact that we have no Zip ort postal codes user registering from Ireland sometime run afoul of the anti-fraud measures used by Gaming Club. Should you have any trouble please contact me giving details of your alias and I will chase things up.

So what else have we been up to? On the 5th of July we had our first real world tournament in the Merrion Casino, and 50 willing souls turned up willing to try and win the first prize of €1000, which was won by Suited Aces member DapperGent. Our tournament structure is a straight forward freeze out and as our first attempt of organising an event went very well.

On the 2nd August we managed to get 55, very weary after a long weekend, people to come along and play, So now we reckon we have a decent structure with longer blind periods to allow for more playing time. Yet we still manage to be finished by 12.30 with the final 4 making a deal. All of the final 9 got at least their money back, and there was €1000 for the winner but that was passed out among the final 4 who opted to divide it all out.

The final 9 in Seat order were: Gerire; Tony Walsh; Eddie Callan; Gary; Cormac; Dave Willoughby; Gary Condon; Adam; and Robin Lacey, with the final 4, we believe being, Tony Walsh, Gary, Cormac and ******, Results to be accurately kept from €25 game onwards.

So what next well we have coming up on the 14th of August another new event we are going to try out. €25 Freeze out in the Fitzwilliam casino. We are expecting a good number to attend this event so arrive as early as possible 4pm Registration and 4.30 tournament begins. This will be similar to our €50 game but more pocket friendly. There will also be low entry sit and go tournies kicking off as people get knocked out.
