Looking at the cold war and seeing from a historic point of view with oppresive govt system eventually collapse just wondering how about St, look at the Klingons, Romulans and Cards.......(ok the obsidian (spelt?) order got killed )

Lets say the Obsidian order was still up and running, which of these worlds population would finally get sick and tired of their govt and finally over throw em?

Was under the impression that the Klingon government was overthrown or was that just the emporer was overthrown after a civil war (the next generation)

The Romulan goverment was diposed in Nemesis

The Ferengi Grand Nagus was ousted temporarily when he iwhen he allowed women to wear clothes.

War brings great changes. During the end days of the Dominion war and with the uprise of Cardassia against the Founders and its allies, it's clear Cardassia will never be the same; as was clearly mentioned in DS9. It's also clear that new times have begun for the Klingon "Empire": Gowron's successor, Martok stands for an entire different kind of Klingon then the corrupt bureaucrats - of whom Gowron was part.
After Nemesis, we know nothing of the Romulan Empire. But I guess it's pretty clear that things are about to change over there as well. For example: the power of the military wing of the Empire could be highly reduced, since it was the military wing that brought Shinzon to power: the traitor that assassinated the entire Senate. Even for Romulan history, this is unheard. After Nemesis, I also think that the social organisation and even the "apartheid" against the Remans will change. After all, Shinzon was a liberty fighter in favor of these Remans. So we could assume there are things on the move in the society of the Romulan Empire. But whether this will result in a "collapse".... I hope - for the Federation - that it will not be the case. The collapse of the Romulan Empire would result in a civil war that will have consequences for the Federation and the Klingon Empire. For the 25th century, I guess it would be rather logical and unavoidable, that the Federation welcomes some kind of union with both Klingons and Romulans. They would be in need of the Federation as would the Federation be in need of them. Wouldn't that be nice?

IF anything history has thought us that suck governments can not be overturned lightly, external parties often have a part to play. e.g. the federations influence on the klingon empire... on more than one occasion!

But as previous posters have stated most of the old oppressive regimes seem to have been ousted, with perhaps the exception of the cardassians. The cardassian military originally took control because the cardassians were running out of natural resources, which brought social unrest and need to expand. They're completely fracked now so it is conceivable that they'll take control again.

"Unification" you mean? No he didn't, he stayed on Romulus to continue helping the Underground movement - there was a later reference to this in TNG's "Face Of The Enemy" (one of the best Romulan episodes I thought) :)
