How do i get the Hi-Res skins and textures???

Hey everyone.

Ok i know there's the 20mb file that was released not too long ago but i want to try and avoid that one.

I also dl'ed the 3k file that is supposed to do it for me but i dont want to install that cos i hear there are some problems with it.

What i really want to know is how do i do it manually??? I want my 512 * 512 goodness!!!!!

I cant find it anywhere on the forums
