John as Taoiseach, no thanks! Well sure you know what the British Media are like when it comes to things Irish! Did he even pronounce Taoiseach correctly?

Cherie Blair seemed to be frowning as she applauded the British team coming in. Tony looked a bit more enthusuastic.

Maybe there was a coup..Bertie's currently locked in a suitcase which has been "lost" by the baggage handlers of Dublin Airport ;)

Bertie will be in Croke Park for the Dublin match tomorrow. I didn't see the BBC coverage myself, but he also referred to the team as being from the Republic of Ireland when in fact it is a 32 county team. The British media so often seem to know very little about their neighbour.

I think it depends on the sport. But when you consider that the team walked out holding the Republic of Ireland flag, it's you could understand why he called them the Republic of Ireland, no?

Anyways, let's give Barry Davies a break, he had to announce 200 countries.

I tought the olympic stadium looked superb.

We'd never get an asset like that in this county.

But John O Donogure for Taoiseach?

He is a pretty good Minister.

It was a bit long and dull at parts. They overdid the Greek heritage a bit. The opening ceremony in Beijing should be very good!
