I'm finding it very difficult to search for threads before the new Vbulletin software upgrade. Have older threads been backed up? If so is it possible to search them?

the threads are there, if you click the "Archive" link at the bottom right of each page you'll find em.

No search for them yet though .

The indexes have to be regenerated on 1.5 million old posts. Since this could take a few days, the Admins are working on it I'm sure.

Erm, we have about 1.7 million posts right now. We hit 1.5 million in April/May or somewhere around then.

The indexes on 1.7 million posts need to be regenerated. Our best estimate for this is about 2 days, 24/7 and most likely the DB will have to be offline.

Is the google alternative usable enough for what you need to do?

sometimes... can get repeat questions months later in PDA/Mobiles and I know I've posted an answer or seen the answer posted previoulsy but can't usually find the specific post to referr them to with a google search (tends to just pull back the topic archive) compared to a direct vb one that could pin-point specific posts...

sometimes try scrolling back through my own post history when i have the time, but it can take a good while...
