Personally I find women who smoke a bit of a turn off. But there is the odd occasion I will find it quite appealing in a woman.

When i used to smoke, i thought my boyfriend looked sexy smoking a cig with a pint in the other hand.. Now we're both off them (nearly a year now) & i find smoking disgusting so i could NOT for the life of me see it as sexy!!

Well, its strange really. It kinda depends on the smoker.

I'm an ex smoker (for only 4 and a half months) and I would generally find that girls smoking is more of a turn off than anything. But then last night I was watching a female friend of mine smoking and she looked damn hot! Strange...

I'm not as petty as to judge a womans attractiveness depending on whether or not they are afflicted with a nicotine addiction. Smoking doesn't affect their 'sexiness' in my opinion.

im a smoker, so i really couldnt give a toss if a woman smoked or not. just because she has a smoke in her hand, doesnt mean shes anyway less physically attractive. probably better if she did smoke (bum smokes off her etc...). ive no problem with it anyway.

I smoke maybe one or two at night and when i go out for pints. I really dont think the actual smoking is sexy, but the smell of smoke is a huge turn off imo.

I hate it. One of my Ex Girlfriends decided to have a cigarette for the first time in years one night and I was absolutely disgusted..

There is nothing worse in my mind than seeing a sexy girl and then she goes and lights up and bang goes the dream.

I always find it disapointing if I find someone attractive, and then see them lighting up a cigarette.. I'm rarely surprised, but disapointed none the less.. I hate the smell, and I think it looks unnatractive aswell.

Just about the unsexiest thing that a man can do is smoke as far as I'm concerned. This might cause an upset, but to me it shows stupidity and that's a huge turn-off.

too much as I used to do a lot of pubwork and probably didnt notice the smell
of smoke as much because of it, but now the thought of even kissing a girl

Smoking has to be the dumbest, least worthwhile, and undoubtedly smelliest of all the common vices, and I'm amazed that anybody could find anything remotely sexy about it.

My own particular weakness is a fondness for drink. Like many an Irish person, I enjoy the occasional binge drink with my mates. Whilst I personally don't dabble, others find their kicks in drugs, smoking Hash, taking E, doing coke etc etc. Now I'm not going to debate with anybody here the relative destructiveness of Drink and Drugs in comparison with smoking. But I will tell you what I find most ludicrous about Smoking.

With Drink and recreational drugs (Heroin obviously notwithstanding) there is a high to be achieved, a high that makes them appealing. With drink, it's the temporary obliteration of inhibitions. This is a lot of fun. If it wasn't, people wouldn't do it. Similarly, with recreational drugs, the recipient experiences a high which is both appealing and fun.

Smoking is not like this. Smokers have a nicotine addiction, period. They crave it, and when they smoke, they do so to eradicate the craving, nothing more. So in essence, whilst drinkers and recreational drug users look forward to the high associated with their respective vices, the smoker in actuality only desires the removal of his craving, hence allowing him to return to normal. So drinkers/rec drug users go from normal to high. With Smokers, their addiction creates a low, and they then smoke to return from this low, back to normal. And that is just unfathomably stupid in my opinion.

Now, before anybody replies to berate me saying 'drugs and alcohol destroy lives etc etc', I am not even getting into long-term effects of Drinking, Smoking, or drugs, all of which have their own set of problems. My point is, at least with two of the three vices something is gained i.e. a bit of fun for a few hours. This isn't true of smoking. Combine this ludicrousness with the ancillary 'benefits' of smoking, namely the disgusting, revolting smell and high expense, and to me, I see smoking as nothing more than a sign of weakness. And how can anybody find weakness sexy?

I have to say I'm amazed at the amount of people who wouldn't date a smoker tbh.

I don't think it's sexy for a woman to smoke but it's not a turn off either. To me it's the same kind of question as "do you think it's sexier for a girl to drink red or white wine?" (i.e. a total non-issue).

That said, none of my last 3 girlfriends smoked and all plagued me to quit, none of them ever got me to. Strangely, my best efforts at quitting have all been during periods of my life when I was single....

I'm a smoker and while i don't find it either attractive or unattractive i definately prefer a smoker because they won't bitch and moan about my smoking. As well as that, we smokers are less anal....in general.

People who drink or take drugs occassionally do so for the high, addicts do so in attempt to feel normal. It is the same with smokers, a person who only smokes the odd cigarette when they are out does get a brief high from it, but an addicted smoker can never get this high, they smoke in an attempt to feel normal by allevitaing the craving.

The only difference between nicotine and other drugs (alcohol, cocaine etc..) is that nicotine is so highly addictive that it is very rare that a person can maintain it as an occassional habit, whereas I know many people who only occassionally take drink or drugs.

I quit smoking about four months ago, and I am not one of these ex-smokers that thinks all smokers are losers, lots of my mates smoke and I have no problem with it, but I do now find it very un-sexy in a girl..

Depends on what you want to do with your genes. If you have kids with a smoker (and that kid is brought up by the smoker), it's likely to be iller and die younger. Up to yourself **shrug**.

I think it's so shallow that people would be turned off by whether a guy/girl smoked or not. It's such a non-issue. I smoke, although I'm trying to cut down, and it bothers me not one iota if a girl smokes or not.

Sexy? Nein! I dislike smoking and, seeing someone smoke, I'll find it a turn off. I think the "sexy" appeal from smoking - thanks to the film noir genre - came from the sort of distant appeal that smoking gave, almost made to seem alluring. The nicotine fog around them would make them appear that bit removed from their surroundings, a sort of mysterious quality. Also, I imagine, in pubs and other places that are often using moody lighting, the brief glow of the cigarette tip is like some sort of subliminal beacon. It'd attract the eye to the smoker over those around sending out no signals.....

well I am a non-smoker and growing up with a mother who smokes has never gotten me used to smoke, it infact has hurt me. It has damaged my lungs and when ever I am around smoke for too long I get an upper respiratory infection. So smoke literally makes me sick.
I have tried to date guys who smoked and it always starts out, well I wont smoke when I am with you but in the end the ciggs work thier way in and the guy works his way out

I can go to pubs once in awhile and be okay, but I cant go every weekend or I get sick. I developed asthma as well so I carry my inhaler when ever I go out because of the smoke. It is a shame that other peoples habits have to affect others in such a way.

Besides the fact that it bothers me, it also makes you smell horrible, I hate going something fresh and clean and coming back smelling of ciggs, yuk!
I would have to say that if I had a pre-requesite for dating..it would have to be that they didnt smoke.

Im a non smoker myself and if I see a nice looking gal and then I see her light up I'll be let down some what. I think non smokers are possibly stronger personality wise. They haven't given in to the pressure to get the habit.

I do think, with some women, if they do it right, they can make it look very appealing.

I do think kissing a smoker is quite disgusting but then again sometimes it can have a kinda "dirty" appeal.

I agree with bard, it's an unfortunate addiction that a lot of people find themselves helplessly trapped in.
I know there are people that like to use cigarettes as an accessory in pubs, but those people are idiots.
It's never been about sexyness as far as I'm concerned... but as a smoker myself I can only imagine how rotten it must be to be a non-smoker kissing someone who's been through a 20-box in the space of a few hours

simple answer for me.. NO!! I dont care what she looks like or how cool she is.. if she smokes she can feck off.. i cant even be around someone who smells of smoke let alone is actually smoking. Im getting married on Tuesday to someone who smoked socially before we got together. It was smoking or me and she quit for me knowing there no future. Though she did make the stupid mistake of smoking her last pack like a demon and almost getting completely hooked!! She has cravings but has not let them get to her.
