    I have a dell dimension XPS T450 (pentium 3 450 mhz), 190 ram, 10 gig hdd running winxp. its really slow, I don't want to buy a new one just yet is there anything i can do to speed it up,

    Clean re-install of the OS? That always helps if its an older computer. Normally XP uses over 200mb of Ram with a few programs running in the backround..... so a little extra Ram should help. Generally theres not too much more, it is pretty old .

    Second the extra RAM suggestion. Also, delete all temp files, then degragment the hard disk (is this needed in XP?).

    Do a clean install.....of Win98se or 2000.

    ye more ram
    xp sucks up memory 256mb with a good processor
    general min. recommendations are p3 600
    with 384mb ram for XP to run smoothly
    'edit'
    ye 2000 will run well on that sys if you have it.
    don't touch 98 with a barge poll
