Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Spurs seal Carrick transfer

Tottenham have bolstered their midfield ranks by securing the signature of West Ham's Michael Carrick. The 23-year-old, who has twice been capped by England, has agreed a four-year deal which will be signed after a medical at White Hart Lane.

Spurs sporting director Frank Arnesen said: "Michael is a big English talent and we're very pleased to sign him.

"Technically he is very good, a great passer who can go left or right and we have quality competition for places."

The Hammers were aware that Carrick could have left the club on a free transfer next summer, but insisted he would have been offered a new deal had he chosen not to join Spurs.

A host of clubs were interested in Carrick, who played more than 150 matches for West Ham, including Everton, West Brom and Portsmouth, who had agreed a deal with the Hammers before the midfielder had second thoughts.

That was because Arsenal and Arsene Wenger were keen on the Newcastle-born player as a replacement for Patrick Vieira, before the France captain agreed to stay at Highbury.

Carrick will instead now link up with former team-mates Freddie Kanoute and Jermain Defoe at White Hart Lane.
