[Request I suppose] Xtravision dvd recorder for 299?

Walked past one on limerick today, but never took down the model code. Comes with the 100 yoyo's in vouchers. Anyone see this or know more?

can someone please tell me is it possible to hook up my video to this machine and to copy all my favourite videos to dvd.sorry for the basic questions but i'm absolutely clueless about this stuff but would love to know.thanks in advance-daithi01

If the videos were recorded via a camcorder, that would be no problem. However you won't be able to record purchased videos, i.e. bought movies etc., as they will be encrypted. There's ways and means around that too though. To be honest I wouldn't bother recording a movie from VHS onto DVD — unless it was particularly rare.

its a bargin at 300 euro. edit just ben reading up on amazon about every other Philips DVD recorder (610 model not featured) they sem very flakey after about 6 months.

I have had a philips dvd recorder (DVDR-75) since Jan which I use daily and have had no problems with it so far.

The DVDR-610 is €449 in Argos.

Records onto the DVD+ format though? I've a dual layer +- burner, but isn't that a bit restrictive? Or do most DVD players play DVD+?

AFAIK DVD+ is supported by Phillips, Sony, Thomson amongst others. While DVD- is supported by Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, Pioneer, Samsung and Sharp. However both formats will play on most newer players.
