What a chalk & cheese performance by Kilkenny in this one.
A first half display as poor as say our 1997 senior qualifier with Galway & a second half comeback similar in ways to 1972 All Ireland senior final against the same county which maybe like back then we would have won had extra time been played.
When Cork started the second half with a further 1-2 to lead 2-10 to 0-3 not even the most optimistic KK fan could have visualized such a recovery.
Even in injury time when we were still requiring a goal Richie Power had a ground-shot which ran across the face of goal & wide.
Then there was 2 sidelines close in & that final 65 which Brian Phelan connected with & as most people thought at the time extra time beckoned.
Question - why was extra time played last year but not this time?
Anyway the replay now take place in Thurles on Sunday 05/09/04 the week before the Senior final. Hopefully a better day & a much bigger support from both counties. They missed a comeback as good as ever can be produced yesterday :D

Didn't see or read much about this, but the Cats and Rebels are never going to be far off one another. The sight of the other is always enough to rouse them.
