Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lidl are doing 20eur sat dishes on the 26th... anyone think bout using these for directional wifi antennae? Opinions?

Could be fun to try them with USB wifi adapters in place of the LNB... not exactly an expensive experiment.

Have a look at MMDS dishes - for that size and PROPERLY (ie focal point and having a small reflector in front) adjusted you should get ~ 17dB ish.
This only applies if you have a dipole. Many of the USB adaptors are too small to have a proper dipole.

Also since it's offset the best thing to do is turn the dish on it's side as otherwise you've to point the dish about 22degrees into the ground to go level.

For outdoor use with you'd need to waterproof all the connectors at which stage you aren't saving much on an MMDS dish, since it has a waterproofed dipole.

[edit] had a look again - for €20 all you get is the dish - sans LNB
Reminder - you aren't allowed more than 100mw EIRP on transmit , some higher powered cards could put you over that ;)

By all means try it with USB - not worth it if you are using an external antenna.
