Theres a lot of people who are saying "I've never been to a real casino and I'm kinda apprehensive of going".
Now, those of us who have been there a lot know its grand and friendly but the first time is, er, special. (dont go there!).

What I suggest is a little SuitedAces-led beginners game on Friday at 6:30.
We meet up in the Fitz, (huddling together for safety, obviously) and play a "learn to play in a casino" one table, sit-n-go game. I'll deal and show you the small differences between home games or online games and casino tournies. Calling your opponent a "cnut" is one of them, right Ken? :)
It will be newbie friendly and you can ask questions you might otherwise feel dumb asking in a big tournie.

Now, I know this is short notice for this Friday but if people are interested (or even if you want to come along for a friendly SNG and already play in casinos) then we can do it this Friday.

Would this be of interest to anyone?

    DeV.

I'll go along to support this - purely to back up Dev's unending knowledge!

Word of wisdom to any newbie - dont let Dev's bad beat stories scare you away from poker - just use them as they were meant to be used - as a sleeping aid.

Plus, I'll teach you all what happens later on in tournies too.. you know, when you stick around for any length of time... :^)

Well for all you new players out there, raising on the big blind when the small blind has a perfect limping hand is most definitely cnutage and proper poker etiquette demands it be recognised as such :D

umm - I suppose you're right - there was that ONE time you stayed in longer than me. I cant fault you for wanting to remember the good times - regardless of how few there are.

    Good Lad.

Listen for Dev's echos of bad beats from the previous nights free-roll, how he's never going to play in them again, and that he'll be in the gratten next Thurs again before the free roll next week

You read my mind Ger! :)

Foxy, at that time we'll be the only ones in the casino.

There are 3 of my mates who want to come along and have never been in a casino either so we have ~5 already. Anyone else want to come along?

    DeV.

    I'd love to come.

    Couple of things then:

    a) sounds stupid, but is there a dress-code?

    b) how much money will I need?

    Sorry, silly questions no doubt...

    cheers

I would be interested if any room left?

Played a good bit online and some small friendly games but be good to participate if possible?!

    Thanks
    Marc

The dress code is: You should be dressed. :)

Money: You need 10 quid per sit and go. Those will generally last 40-60 minutes though of course you could be out in no time! Personally I'll be bringing 50 but drinking 20-30 of that :)

LuckySparky, theres plenty of room left.

There are no stupid questions, we all learned (and are learning) as we go.

    Good to hear ...

Another couple of newbie Questions so ....

    1) Where exactly is the club?
    2) Does it have a closing time!

    Thanks
    Sparky

The club is in an old converted church, opposite the ESB HQ. Coming from town along baggot street you take the left turn just before Larry Murphys pub. The club is about 100 metres down there on the left hand side.

Yes it has a closing time. I only know this because I've seen it open up. Its something like 8am according to Luke (the floor manager).

"tell us again about the button, Jesse"

  • Registered Users Posts: 799 ✭✭✭dirkey_wynne

    I'll be there for sure.

Sweet, sounds like we'll have a bunch of the suited aces guys and a bunch of new people. Might even get two tables going!

Luke... the action moves around to the left of the dealer, the next two players have to make compulsory bets called the small blind and the big blind, thats what gets the action started! damn I've watched too much poker on telly!

There is a 50-rebuy tournie at 9 but I think I'll go drinking afterwards so anyone who wants to go for a few is welcome to join me!

    DeV.

I'll pop in around 5.30, if anyone fancies playing some Omaha on the second table?

  • Registered Users Posts: 799 ✭✭✭dirkey_wynne

I'm finished work about 5:30...if these games are kicking off at 6:30 does anyone fancy a pre-poker-pint? (ppp)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14 LuckySparky
