Flying cars!

I think the article summed it up with "pigs will fly before cars do". Considering the poor standard or road users I dread to think what would happen when those muppets are let into flying cars.

While I would love one, until control of the cars is not a human's responsibility I can't see this happening in any sort of volume.

Personally this subject is close to my heart. In fact it's my biggest disapointment in life.

Since I was tiny - we were promised flying cars around the year 2000 mark. Where are they I ask you? Where?

    Dosen't anyone else feel cheated?

I got tired waiting and tried to build one. I think I was 7 at the time.

"Pigs will fly before cars will"

Damn, they'll be issuing penalty points from day one then.

if every adult had a heavier than air flying car then the total energy would be enormous and could affect weather patterns. having said that on tomorrows world many moons ago there was a scheme for a hot air baloon - transparent ouside and black inner - so self heating - the neat bit was they wanted to fly very high above the clouds etc. so less air resistance - in fact they even reckoned solar heating would provide propulsiion !

While it sounds like a nice idea, in parctical terms it could be very dangerous. Think what havoc a drunk driver could wreak in a flying car! Any accident has the potential to cause a lot of damage.

It probably would cost a fortune as well. Right now it costs about €6000 to get a private pilot's licence after instructor fees and flight time. Operating costs for even a light aircraft are in excess of €100 an hour. I can't see any future flying car to be cheaper unless there is some new miracle transportation technology (UFO powered anti-grav levitation anyone?)
