Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I recently went onto a webpage I use...only to find there not taking postal orders anymore. That only leaves the paypal option or a credit card. Both of which I dont have!

Anyway, Paypal's and Google's european headquaters is in my area (so I hear). I was wondering if there was anyway I could open up a paypal account and then transfer money from my irish AIB bank account into it?

    Many Thanks

You need a Credit Card to open a Paypal account.

Just dump a load of money into your credit card account. Basically operate a pay now buy later approach to using your credit, instead of the reverse way, which most people do and end up paying a load of interest. So the next time you have some money to put into the bank, stick it into your credit card account or if your wages goes direct into your bank account get some of it and put it into your credit card account. It is a far better way to operate your credit card.

I agree. I do this and it works.

Treat it like a laser card.

    Interest sucks

He doesn't have a Credit Card. Basically, AFAIK, you can't get a Paypal account without a credit card. Flukey, your idea of pay now, buy later is a good idea, pity I hadn't thought of that ages ago :(

It is a simple idea but very effective. It is better to be paying for your Christmas presents that you buy with your credit during November rather than in January. I try to keep my credit card always in the black. Put extra money in as Christmas begins to approach or if you are going abroad. It is a good way to get foreign exchange, by just withdrawing it from an ATM with your credit card. There are no additional charges if you are in credit. There are lots of advantages, so pay your credit card bill before you even spend the money! If you start now, by the end of November you'll have all your Christmas presents paid for, so you will have no worries come January and no bills either!!! :)

Not to mention the interest paid for a credit balance, i get 2%, which is a damn sight better than the 0.01 i get on my current account :P

They are not all doing that. Some, like the AIB, stopped paying interest a few years ago. We'd expect that from the AIB.

Paypal have started accepting irish bank accounts in the last couple of weeks, so maybe you can now. Look on the site or email them
