Dave fanning was asking it last night...what's YOUR Guilty Pleasure...

Lets limit it to one song, but make it the one you'd never normally own up to liking for fear it would interfere with your own (percieved) credibility.

Obv I'm not in a position to make rules here, but I'd like to think that given the nature of the thread, you really shouldn't laugh at the choices of others.

What will, of course, be far more amusing is when one persons Guilty Pleasure is another persons normal 'tune du jour'...

    I'll kick off....

Robert De Niro's Waiting, by Banarama...

    There - i've said it...

    [Spoken:]
There's an old Australian stockman, lying, dying,
and he gets himself up on one elbow,
and he turns to his mates,
who are gathered 'round him and he says:

    Watch me wallabys feed mate.
    Watch me wallabys feed.
    They're a dangerous breed mate.
    So watch me wallabys feed.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

    Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl,
    keep me cockatoo cool.
Don't go acting the fool, Curl,
    just keep me cockatoo cool.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

    Take me koala back, Jack,
    take me koala back.
He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac,
    so take me koala back.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

Let me Abos go loose, Lou,
    let me Abos go loose.
They're of no further use, Lou,
so let me Abos go loose.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

    Mind me platypus duck, Bill,
    mind me platypus duck.
Don't let him go running amok, Bill,
    mind me platypus duck.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

    Play your digeridoo, Blue,
    play your digeridoo.
Keep playing 'til I shoot thro' Blue,
    play your digerydoo.
    Altogether now!

    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.
    Tie me kangaroo down sport,
    tie me kangaroo down.

Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred,
tan me hide when I'm dead.
So we tanned his hide when he died Clyde,
(Spoken) And that's it hanging on the shed.
    Altogether now!

I too liked the sheer catchiness of 'complicated' by little miss lavigne

And when I was younger I really liked 'Hold me now' by the great Johnny Logan. :)

I have found myself humming Phil Collins tunes of late. I thought he missed a chance of a sure fire hit by not putting out "I Can't Believe It's True" as a single in 1983, it ended up the b-side of "You Can't Hurry Love" (I think?) and on "Hello, I Must Be Going".

I can't stand the man, why then, is he running amok inside my head??? "Nonce Sense", indeed!

I've decided it is futile to try to eradicate "Buster" (the crafty cockney conman who does a loddagoodworkforcharidee) from my record collection entirely, though. He's in there already on; Genesis' "Selling England By The Pound", Brian Eno's "Another Green World" and Peter Gabriel's "third" album (the melting face one).

There's no need to be ashamed to like anything though really is there? As Phil himself once sang (no doubt whilst wagging a finger and adopting a consternating frown)..."Just think about it..."

I like the Suga babes. Pretty much all their songs. From the first one 'Train come I don't know it's destination....' i've found all their songs to be really catch and good. There. I have said it.

I have the worst musical taste known to humanity.

But I know I have bad taste. Does that make it better or worse?

    Complicated by Avril Lavigne.

That song is so catchy, it is almost impossible to resist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,021 ✭✭✭bopper

Why should people feel guilty about liking avril and the sugababes. a catchy song is a catchy song no matter who sings it

I own the seven inch single of "Put 'Em Under Pressure" by the Republic of Ireland's Italia '90 World Cup Squad. I still play it at parties.
