Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well it's September 1st. It's back to school. The summer is over. Nothing to look forward to... except... Christmas! Oh CRÂP!

    Reasons to dislike Christmas.
1 Those Christmas countdowns. "Hey, it's only 116 days to Christmas! Let's get planning and buying stuff!"

I must get a gold star for the first Christmas 2004 post

You could always look forward to the biggest non-event of the year, halloween.
People running around drunk, massive open fires and joyriding... just another night across Dublin really.

Someone always has to be the first one to bring up Christmas. Once the Autumn sales are over the shops will all be beginning their marketing campaigns. I far prefer the first half of the year is there is none of theis fake Christmas bullshít.

I Love Christmas - favourite time of the year. Our family are really close and we have a great time. Our office closes down for almost two weeks too which is a nice break. My little boy will be 2yrs 3mths this year so I can't wait to bring him to see santa and see his face on Christmas morning. Have to say though its really the kids that make it exciting and once there's no kids in the family that still believe its not the same.

Yeah I have my gripes about Christmas aswell... there's far too much focus on buying/selling and not enough about togetherness or just being a decent human being for one day of your miserable life.
(Yes, my boards name reflects this.)
Although I do enjoy the lively buzz in the air around Christmas time for some reason.

RE: halloween and fireworks... I've heard some going off in the distance already, in fact I've heard a mini-rocket going off as far back as two weeks ago.

christmas is annoying, its pretty much being forced/scammed into spending time with your family. Which will always lead to some argument.
Someone should make a new holiday, one where you have to avoid your family for a week. Thatd be great. And rather than giving each other presents, you could rob off each other. I've always wanted my brothers car.

He he, you may be missing BBC 1 and 2 for a period on christmas day, this is due to fat bastard irish man breaking things.

Christmas is great, but theys should ban all mention of it and advertising for it until December 1st. The shops would still get all the shoppers and make their money. Most people don't do their shopping until the last few days, so starting advertising on December 1st would be more than adequate. Today is Wednesday the 1st of September. The next Wednesday the 1st is in December! It would be nice to think that we would not hear a mention of Christmas until then, but unfortunately, we will.

By the way, it is actually 115 days to go! :)

i very much agree. i dont mind all the mumbo jumbo, to an extent. it just annoys me that it starts wayyyy to early.

Christmas Eve. Traditionally, everyone goes to the pub for "One or Two" on the 24th, but ultimately everyone ends up getting ratarsed, and struggling out of bed for breakfast the next morning.

I love Christmas. I'm going to make a concerted effort to do most of my shopping online this year. Our family does a Kris Kindle. So I have only two people to buy presents for (one family member, and my better half).
