British publisher Codemasters has announced that it has discontinued development on Dragon Empires, with the massively multiplayer RPG title being dropped due to "technical issues."

The bulk of the development team on the game are being transferred to other parts of Codemasters' operation, and no redundancies have been announced as a result of the cancellation.
this game looked very promising indeed which is even more sad that it got cancelled. from the economy to the environment, everything seemed planned ahead and in place. what went wrong? guess we will find out in a couple of days.

the dragon empires forums on the codemasters website, the most popular of the lot, have been unusually quiet - unusually quiet for mmorpg nerds are the most vocal when this kind of **** gets down.

yeah just heard, Im in total shock, I was really looking forward to this game, I think their excuse of technical difficulties is so lame it more likely a commercial decision, WoW will be difficult to compete against and EQ2 will mop up whats left of the userbase. Such a shame..

Well it was getting kind of crazy with the amount of new mmorpgs that were in development. Its still a niche market and most mmorpg players only really tend to play one mmorpg at a time.

Has any real reasion come forth about Warhammer online getting canned come to light yet?
