    Hi there,

I am working overseas but would like to come back to baptise my newborn. Thing is, I would like to make a special occasion of it, a nice trip for the parents and a nice place to baptise the baby. I was thinking somewhere over the West in Connemara or near Galway, I would really like a medieval style abbey, something with a bit of character and history for the kid to look back on later. Alas, my net searches on churches in Ireland have only coughed up the worst kind of Jesus freaks. It seems that any legitimate search with the words church etc will bring them crawling out of the woodwork.

Anyways, I would be very grateful if anyone could post any ideas, suggestions or links my way on this.

Assume your religion and all that sort of stuff is above board otherwise could cause issues.

Secondly assume you dont need to get kids into some school in Ireland otherwise would be wise to babtise your baby in the local church to smooth the way into the school.

Thanks for the links mrhappy42! Much appreciated.

My religion is all above board, Im a friendly, one of the good guys. (Non Practising Roman Catholic)
School wont be an issue, as soon as the baptism is over, Ill be scuttling back off overseas, its really just I would like to return to baptise the baby in my homeland.

By the way, on that last link, that Reverand Paisley chap sounds interesting, I think Ill give him a call to see if he will do it.

Has anyone any churches or abbeys they can suggest???
