what exactly does "californication" mean???

Well, I don't have a dictionary at hand, but I tried looking it up on www.dictionary.com and it wasn't there, but I presume it's not an actual word. But from the RHCP song, the impression I get from the words is that californication describes general 'westernisation'; General fakeness in everything you can see. Complete mingers with saggy tits are beautiful women with wonderful bodies after surgery, I'm actually finding it difficult to expand on this, but to cut it short, it's a way of showing what life would be like if money, greed, glamour and excess ruled, and California is used as an example of this.

Could be that it just sounded good, could be that they had some deeper meaning. I do remember hearing them explain it in a very half assed manner back when it first came out. Fairly open to interpretation though.

i guess it's a word play on the fact that a.california has the worlds largest pornography industry and b.fornication is to have sex...i mean when i think of california , i think of sex, so (cali)fornication is just what california is all about.

They said what it means in an interview, but i completly forgot. i think it was for the nomination of that video for the VMAs a few years ago.
