    Just cancelled my UO account....

    getting the shakes.....

nah, hte game was fun.. for a while. then it just became same ol' same ol'. Hack, hack, hack, oooh a bit of money... hack, hack, hack... ****e, someone stole my kill and looted it....hack, hack, lag....connection lost...dead. Get ressed, hack, hack,.
    Yawn!

And it took too long to be able to *do* anything. I was almost a gm warrior and going into a dungeon alone was still a no-no.

    ah well.
off to buy Diablo 2 and BG 2 when the paycheck rolls under the door smile.gif My addiction shall be cured by replacing it with a newer prettier coloured addiction!!!

And that should alst up until Neverwinter nights pops up. Yippee!

What game were you playing? UO has become EXTREMLY EASY THEN IT EVER WAS.

You've been spoilt. There was a time when the game was actually hard. That actually leaving town was a risk let alone going into a dungeon.

OK, walking outside town was still dangerous (though I agree, nowhere near as dangerous as Felucca - the side of the map where PKing is allowed - that's where I changed over to playing BTW as most of the decent stuff happened there. Thrammell was waaaaaaaaay to boring) the worst was when you met clumps of monsters... got jumped by orc mage, orc lord, orc, orc, water ele, ettin, troll, and two harpies all at the same time... lag was unbelievable! (I managed to step away from them and then bravely teleported out of there... I was on my own).

There just seemed to be a power jump at some point. First you run from *everything* then you can kill half the things, then you get to kill the other half. It was that last half that I couldn't imagine doing... met a dragon once. It didn't like me. I died. Horribly.

Until that power jump though, there's nothing to do except go and randomly kill stuff. Which involved the great skill of target, attack, sit back and watch.. unless it was a PKer, in which case there was some fun involved!!

They didn't have enough actual stories going on. Too much was left up to the players to organise and that usually turned into one player going "look at me, I'm so cool" as he guided everyone through his "role playing" experience.
"Why should I give you 500 gold?"
    "it's roleplaying"
    "how?"
"you're not one of those idiots that go around PKing are you?"
    "no"
    "then give me the money"
    etc. etc. ad nauseum.

The game itself was fun but OSI need to put actual evolving and reacting plots into it. With the seers and volunteers and all leaving, the shards just turned absolutely crap. Also, Gms started banning people for disrupting player run events!!! The fights were the best bit!

"ooh look. Is that a red behind you?"
    "I don't care, just give me the 500 gol...*ack*"
    "What?"
    "OOooOOOOOooooo"
    "can't right now, I'm fighting smile.gif "
    "OOOooOOoOOO"
"of course I'll guard your money pouch, now you run off and roleplay being dead".

Trip to the terathan keep was a great laugh though (even though I died 8 times smile.gif ).

It's not supposed to be played like a single player game. Dungeons are hard for a reason.

If you could go one on one with a dragon then there is something seriously wrong with that dragon (although I'm sure Venom will tell you his tale of his mighty guild exploiting poor Mr Dragon to kill it smile.gif)

You think Fel is hard???? It is nothing like what it used to be. You could bump into a blue player, let alone a red and possibly end up dead (re: See Venom).

Your average red in Felucca now isn't a PK'er it's a newbie who went red killing NPC's.

People would fight each other over spawns or if they got stolen/looted from they would attack. Now they just page a GM if someone won't give back thier rune or you don't let them train in the BK room.

You can make 25K an hour killing nobles waiting for escorts now with little to no risk, or you can just escort a healer into a dungeon and then loot the corpses that the healer leaves behind (healers have been souped up to ultra-mages/guards level).

As for seers/plots stuff they are still around, but only in Trammel.
