...just doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried 0044xxxx, +0044xxxx, +44xxxx and god knows how many others. Anybody know the dialing prefix for calling English mobiles?

Just dial 0044 and then drop the 0 from the beginning of the number and it should work eg.. 0044 783......

Do you have international calls barred?

Ta lads, I'm sure I already tried 0044 and I've dropped the 0 from 079, but I'll try it again after work.

I shouldn't have international calls barred..........unless that's the default. I certainly never asked for it.

Internetional Calls can sometimes be blocked as a default when you set up a new account. this happened to me with vodafone last year. thank christ my contract with them is up

Interesting - I had some problems ringing UK mobiles yesterday (8 sept). I was getting a "number not is use" message. I am on Vodafone have no handset or network barring
