Anyone see NY LON last night on Channel 4? There was a version of Nilson's Mr Bojangles played a couple of times in it and I'm wondering who it's by cos I'd love to get a copy.

It's not on the soundtrack. Any walking musical encyclopedia out there recognise it?

Didn't see it. The "big" covers of Mr Bojangles have come from Harry Belafonte, Robbie Williams, Nina Simone, Neil Diamond and Sammy Davis Jr so it may well be one of those.

    What did it sound like?

Coulda been Nina Simone alright, certainly had some jazz touches...

Girlie singing. Probably Nina Simone then. Or could be Etta Jones, Nancy Wilson or Esther Philips. Etta Jones has a new compilation out so it's mostly likely her or Nina (they're the two jazzy singers of the bunch). Of course at this stage I realise I'm hindering rather than helping so that's me done.
