boards struggling under its own weight

    keep getting permission denied pages and on the front page there's gaps of about 40 mins between posts.

    either nobody's posting, or everyone is :)

    Both our server admins were away from their desks today and that caused us problems. On the flip side we hope to buying a machine before next week and putting it in asap then.

    Would it be possible to erect an outer gate to stop unregistered browsers, or would this make little difference in practice to the number of page views (most guests proberly being members who are'nt logged in).

    I would say most are, although there might be a lot of people logged in, but away from their PCs. I doubt this latter group use much bandwidth though, just pages being refreshed occassionally.

    You know you can buy a capacitor that will store the electricy from those bicycles long enough for the two server admins to have a pee/smoke.

    They were vbulletin messages - the same as if you click on a link to a private board you don't have access to.

    So i just wanted know know when is boards going to be back up to normal speed again, cuz at the moment its really slow and thats all the time, not just at one point in the day. its like i'm on 56k again.

    Scrolling up I can see that the new server will be in "asap". That means "as soon as possible" I think.

    /me gets over excited with the thought of using boards between 2 and 3 pm. it was my only time of productivity during the day. no more work for me! ;)
