Out of interest how come the dance forum can post links to sets no problem but this was snipped? I didn't see the link so I'm just wondering...

Maybe the mod felt it was warez. Sets are a bit of a grey area. Some think they are illegal, some don't. Personally I don't think they are because they are usually low enough quality with good bit of backround noise so you can't rip anyone off or anything.

Why so?

The show is broadcast on the radio and is left on Radio 1's website also. It isnt for sale anywhere (except illegaly - oh the irony). Also it has regular blasts of radio jingles etc to stop tracks being ripped off.

Personally I think not being allowed post links to sets like this is a bit much. Maybe it was as I said 'grab this one quick'. That was not a comment made at the mods but as the guy who hosts the mix wont have it up for long.

KevIRL, from a purly legal point of view bbc pay for the use of those songs to the record labels but if you redistribute them its illegal. Its the same with mixtapes taken from radio stations in NY its allowed on the radio but is only sold illegally underground because the record labels dont get their cut from it(although they dont make much of an effort to stop it)

given the length of each tune in this set (rarely over a minute) i reckon its more than covered by the fair use policy.
and you can easily just stream it from the bbc website... I don't see the harm in leaving the link up.
