If you live in the North Kildare area and Drive an opel......
Left my car in for service, timing belt, and to have a few thing tidied up, number plate falling off at rear, passanger side mirror not adjusting, squeaky seats and to diagnose a fault causing a warning light to come on intermitently.

Mentioned to the Guy that the car was still under warranty so if any of the
problems where warranty related I would not be paying but he told me that they would not do any warranty repairs?

Went to collect the car and the guy told me that it was all done.
Me : What was wrong with the seats
Guy: Oh I didn't fix them.

Me : How about the mirror?
Guy: Didn't get a change to look at that either.

Me : What was causing the warning light.
Guy : Couldn't find anything wrong with that either.

OK, Paid the bill and off I went, didn't charge for stuff he didn't do so not a lot I could say other that express a general degree of dissatisfaction.

1 Week later my number plate falls off, they had stuck in back on with super glue, managed to get some of it on the boot of my car too.

6 weeks later warning light comes on again.......

12 weeks later engine making rattling noise.

Took car back, guy said ah sure that was months ago, you can't come back now.

Engine had also almost run out of Oil which lead me to believe none was put in at all. have had car a while and its not leaking or burning Oil.

After the guy totally fobbing me off and stopping just short of telling me to F-Off I left.

Took car to Crosson Team Opel.
Had the problem diagnosed in 5 minutes with my warning light, faulty ABS Sensor. However in the period I had spent dicking around with Boylans my warranty had expired!

Rang opel Ireland and they kindly agreed to cover cost after I explained my experience with Boylans.

Crosson carried out work at no charge to me.

Boylans demonstrated poor workmanship, non existent custome service, inconvienenced me considerable and almost cost me money.
They will never see my car again and bear the above in mind before letting them see yours.

    So, as the title says.......

Good post, more angry consumers please! So many franchise garages are lousy once you've gone and bought a car off them, brand owners should spend less money on showrooms and more on training.

At least the importers were willing to listen.

If we are talking about thievery then:-
I went into the Peugeot dealer in Liffey Valley to pick up a part for my wife's old 106. I ended up waiting an eternity (had to!) for the parts slaesman to come out and get the part. Anyway, while I was waiting I got chatting to a man about my age and his father. Turns out they were wanting to speak to the service manager - he was on holidays. They then asked for the general manager who was off doing something else but would be with them "right away". Anyway, they were pissed off because they left their car in for an oil service and ended up getting the timing belt and loads of other things done on their car (306 IIRC) costing something like IR£3500. They never contacted the owner about the work, they just gave him the bill! No idea what happened in the end.

Try the official Opel Aftersales in Limerick (Ennis Road). They use to be on top of everything, now since the aftersales moved (and looked like they contracted to another company)... it's gotten worse. You give them a list of things that needs fixing, they write it down, collect your car, wait a few days. Car returns, and it was just serviced, nothing else was fixed. My uncle's opel corsa's front passenger window was smashed, they did not have the part and asked him to order it himself from another garage! And this is aftersales!!! Plus another example, my mom's car is due for NCT, the rear light was a little fractured, and they told her when she brought it for service that it needs replacing, but they do not have the part. So it was ordered. Went back to collect car, said rear light is fractured, it will fail NCT, but we already knew that as we ordered and asked them to fix it. They somehow say they did not have the order. We ordered again, and they said it would be a 1/2 hour job. And come back later. Guess what??? No order found when we asked why the light is broken. Ok, once we watched them, order the part, they said it would be shipped from Opel in Germany! (WTF?!?) Hmm, anyway, we don't care, get it for us. When it arrived, the mechanic said the part was wrong. And we are still waiting for the part. Damn cowboys... Anyone know of a good garage that fixes Opel. We are waiting another year before switching to another make. My father has been Opel's customer for over 15 years in Limerick. But since their aftersales moved, their service ranks. Don't bother ringing them, they don't pick up. You have to go their directly. Outsourcing at its worse!

Getting back to Liffey Valley Peugeot - wife left her car (206) there again for a service recently. I asked them to also check the alarm as it was acting up. They phoned me a while later and said that it was an aftermarket alarm and they wouldn't touch it! I insisted that it wasn't aftermarket but was in fact a Peugeot system. "No it isn't" was the reply. So I ended up saying fair enough.
When I went to collect it I asked again were they sure and did they check the documentation in the drivers folder in the glovebox. "Yes we did and it is aftermarket!"
Not being 100% sure of this I asked for the key and went out (followed by the serviec desk guy). Opened the folder with all the drivers manuals and sure enough there was an alarm manual with the word Peugeot and a nice little picture of a lion on it!

Unlikely as it seems, the garage might not have been lying to you. A lot of brand new cars are delivered to their new owners with the alarm system the customer ticked on the (dealers) option list

Often the dealer would have had the alarm installed by a specialist company into a car that was already in the country. A lot of cars don't have to be still manuctured after you buy them :)

This way the dealer will create more margin for himself. Remember he won't pay / charge VRT over the aftermarket fitted alarm either

The documentation about the Peugeot alarm might be part of the standard pack for the 206 or even put in by accident by the dealer

Did you check the alarm itself under the bonnet? Bet there's no Peugeot emblem on it, but I'm not gonna put more than €1 on my bet ;)

Possibly right as it was a Cobra manufactured alarm but in any case the fact was that the alarm manual was Pug endorsed not dealer endorsed. There is no reference to the dealer on the alarm manual - only Pug.
I will check later but AFAIR it had Pug's France contact details on the back.

checked and it is definitley a peugeot endorsed system made by cobra! Manual is pug alright!
