Atlantis: Exploring the Catholic Intellectual Tradition

We are forming a new student society in UCD to encourage people to discover some of the great figures of the Catholic tradition. We will be inviting experts to give us a simple introduction to the book of the month: its historical background and subsequent influence, a biographical sketch of the author, and brief summary of the work. Discussion will follow.
Here is an outline of our projected works:

    September St.Augustine's Confessions
    October Dante's Paradiso
    November St.Thomas: Chesterton's Life
    January St.Teresa of Avila's Life
February Newman's Idea of a University
March Edith Stein's Life in a Jewish Family
April John Paul II's Fides et Ratio

Our meetings are for all - not only Catholic students - who want an opportunity to familiarize themselves with key figures in our civilization.

Hey, if it's books you're discussing, why don't you call it the Catholic Literary Intellectual Tradition, (CLIT for short)? There's an acronym there that'll attract plenty to the first meeting, even if they never return.. :-P
