Arcserve 9.0 Build (2020) Problems

I have a nightly backup job on a Windows 2000 Server which copies onto five DLT IV tapes from four different Servers. The software is Arcserve 9.0 Build (2020)

The Backup appears to run fine according to the log, apart from a couple of errors about not being able to access open files. The status of the job is 'Failed'. When I Mount the tapes, under Device/Mount/Dismount Magazine, the tapes appear as <Blank Media>. The tapes are only two months old and have more than enough capacity to hold whats required.

Here is a segment from last nights log from last nights job - if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! Thanks

AFAIK If arcserve skips more than 3 files it will present a backup failed ,
But there are a few things you need to do to optimize your backups , but it's friday afternoon and I'm off home now, but will help on monday (once reminded)

but here are a few pointers:
    1) Install open file agent , this requires a bit of room on the Arcserve server but it is really really handy.
    2) Don't have the one job backing up EVERY server, if one server is giving hassle it will slow the entire process down , rather have multiple backup jobs that perhaps backup two servers each , independent process' give greater resilience.

    3) Also for that slow server 'SERVER 1' , you could setup a RAIDset on your Arcserve Server and backup to that, then dump to tape , very fast /efficent etc

    4) Ehh ok so make a few smaller jobs than the one big one , and then attempt your backup and restore (and click on refresh for you media labels to display)

let us know how that works , see you monday
