i read online at the time that it was because he wanted to pursue different political activisim thingies with his musical career than the rest of the band.

that could be utter bull****e, but if I didn't have my faith I wouldn't have much of anything.

I heard he left to pursue being a 'hiphop artist' & was getting tired of the 'Rage' formula...

i heard it was because the band werent as politically driven as he was and he wanted to step it up a notch,"they werent seeing his visions" was a quote from somewhere i heard at the time.

I heard he went into the restaurant and ate all the food in the restaurant and they had to close the restaurant.

I don’t think there ever was an official reason released, but my theory on it is

They were a number one selling band in America with a strong political message, people were buying their records but not taking the message on board. I think he found this extremely frustrating as they were a “cool” band to be into but few who listened to them changed.

the "hip hop" i've heard of him ("march of Death" and "burned hollywood burned", both w:/ Dj Shadow i think but i'm open to correction) isn't bad actually.

He felt that Rage had gone as far as they could with the combination of rock and political rap. I think the final straw was when Timmy climbed up on the stage when Limp Dick won some award. Zack was raging over that.

He is working on some new ****, but it's been ages.

Have you heard his song March Of Death with DJ Shadow?

Isn't Burn Hollywood Burn by Public Enemy?

Mistaking Chuck D for Zach De La? :)

Or is it a Zach song playing on the PE title?

maybe someone mistyped the song title when they added to wherever i downloaded it from, but now ya mention it, chuck d's on the track with him.

and a quick google just confirmed this

Not sure if this is known or not, but he has a new song "We Want It All", produced by Trent Reznor. Something to do with Michael Moore, too:
